You need to leave an offering at another shrine (I suggest the cheapest thing you can find, like an apple, or a small magic potion if you're a melee character). Just open your inventory when you're in front of the statue, put the item in the Drop square, close it and step back. The statue will give you a message if it has worked.
If strafe is going to be added, I'd suggest making it an optional toggle. A problem I've had with other games like this on my phone is that all those buttons clutter up the interface too much. I'd likely often hit the wrong button, just as some here have complained about hitting menu buttons; different strokes for different folks.
Just finished (#37!), and wanted to share my thoughts on the endgame... First of all, I wanted to congratulate the creator on this successful solo project; I've seen it described elsewhere as a labor of love, and it certainly shows! I actually signed up for the forum just to throw in my two cents on this game. I just finished the game, and I'd clock my playtime closer to 8-10 hours. Of course, I was home sick for a few days, and able to play for extended sessions... probably helped me keep everything straight and avoid most of the backtracking. I played as a human, and focused on bravery and cunning, with a slight emphasis on bravery (though armor made my defense higher than my attack)... I'd list my exact stats, but having finished the game the only thing I can see is the closing scenes when I load my game. I'd like to echo the repeated calls for a compass on the main screen, and the ability to strafe... this could be an (optional) third row of buttons, with the compass occupying the center position. I also agree that the "Back" button should always be in the same place. Resolving these interface issues would have made the experience much more enjoyable. I should probably point out that I played this exclusively on the iPad, so I had all the screen real-estate in the world for more buttons... Another complaint I have concerns health management: Spoiler The player finds a health regeneration ring fairly early on; I understand this is a substitute for a "rest to heal" function. However, this results in running back and forth down an empty corridor between fights to restore health, which grows really tiresome as the health bar grows, even with the +4 ring. There REALLY needs to be a "pass until healed" function, where turns keep cycling without the "standing guard" delay until either the character is healed or attacked by a monster. This was my biggest frustration until the final island. Now, to nitpick the endgame scenario: Spoiler I completed every side-quest and explored every area before visiting the final island. Sword-and-board had worked great for me... right up until I met my first Bah-Lorn. They simply couldn't be beaten this way, and there was nowhere left to try and level up my character further to fight them. I almost gave up, before I discovered a really cheap trick: How to kill Bah-Lorn as a human warrior: Spoiler Alright, so that's a bit of a misleading intro... this is what you need: At least 15 mana (if you've put no additional points into magic, you may be out of luck), a spellbook with the fireball spell, and a magic-regenerating ring. Most of the Bah-Lorn you MUST fight are encountered in the following scenario, and the few that aren't can be kited into one: stand with the Bah-Lorn three tiles away (just visable) and at least one clear tile behind you. Blast the Bah-Lorn with a fireball, and dance back-and-forth between the square you are in and the one directly behind you (the Bah-Lorn will be just out of sight) until your magic regenerates for another shot. The Bah-Lorn will not charge, and you can repeat this process until it's dead. Just be careful you don't accidentally get any closer, or the Bah-Lorn will close and beat you to death... that happened to me a few times. So, that was the only thing I found that worked. Given how I had played the game up to this point, I was extremely disappointed; I felt like I was being told I had chosen the wrong way to play, but only at the very end. The process of clearing these monsters was time-consuming decidedly un-fun... Spoiler once I found the Shield of Lords in the Abyss, I was able to shield-bash them to death instead, but the amount of damage I took cut it close, so I stuck with the method described above. As I was already wielding the best equipment I could find, I really feel like I should have been able to fight these monsters head-on, albeit cutting it close and needing to heal afterwards. Not being able to do so seems like poor game balancing to me... it was almost insulting when Spoiler I was able to shield-bash the final boss four times and kill him; he wasn't nearly as tough as his bodyguards. All in all, I did enjoy the game, and I am truly impressed that this was a one-man show. I just feel like there needs to be a bit of tweeking to the end-game balance, so the ending experience isn't soured for anyone else following the path I took. Congrats again on a great project; I hope you don't feel like I'm being too critical... I just want to see your next project turn out even better!
I've searched that forest a third time, and I'm 99% sure I've been on every tile and there is no skull. Maybe a bug? Can someone tell me where the exact location _should_ be?
Very stuck, I've just Spoiler handed the war plans to the Dwarfs in Northice or whatever over, and they tell me I need to head West, but the only way I can see is this place, where there is a wall and a cheeky ice giant peeping his little head over. I have an amulet or something or other that let's me see the map, and I can't see any other way in. I literally have no idea where to go as I seem to have combed over every square. If someone could help it would be appreciated, I am playing as a Human. See attached screenshots to make it more clear what I am talking about.
There is no secret way in. You just have to explore around to get to the other area and the ice giant. You may have to exit the current map and take a round about way by first accessing other game areas. It should be fairly straight forward and I'm hard pressed to answer because there's really no secret. Maps are not randomly generated so you won't get stuck.
Well I'm stumped then, because I've been all over the mountainous northern region with no indicator to go other than west. Given there's no entrance on that map other than the dead end I assume it's a portal of some kind. If it's further back than the mountains I guess I'm just too lazy to backtrack, oh well, great game though.
Confused as to which region I should be visiting after the Swamps area (Threznik). The only new area I seem to be able to access is currently is Ranehold, where the monsters are crazily hard, even with the best weapon and armour. I am a human, with Attack 91 and Defense 89, and I can barely scratch the monsters. I also see that there is Cragmore still uncovered, should I be doing that section next? In which case how do I reach it? Many thanks in advance! Loving this game.
Loved this game and can see myself playing through as every character type once I've finished as a Human. On the last mission now and before I finished I wanted to ask a couple of questions while I can still reference my game. Firstly, I think in the Spoiler Crimson Caverns but possibly Delvmore Depths on the lowest level there is a Spoiler portal surrounded by rock walls, some of which you can see through hence me knowing it's there. Is there a way to get to this and what's the point in it since I seem to have got every item needed to finish? My second question involves the number of quests, currently I'm on 16 and I've taken care to explore and talk to everyone I can on all the maps. Are some quests given by Spoiler animals ? This is the only thing I can think of as to why I haven't got every quest. I'll include a list of quests below, which will hopefully jog someone's memory as to the ones I have missed. Spoiler 1.The Necromancer 2. Tools of the Trade 3. Giant of a Quest 4. Varzoth's Evil Tower 5. Defilers 6. Planning for the Worst 7. Scepter of Power 8. Jewl of Theralst 9. Possessive Possessions 10. Plumbing Problems 11. Open for Business 12. Rites of Passage 13. Gem of Errask 14. Freedom of the Forest 15. Runes of Deceit 16. Save the Realm If anyone could at least point to an area where I can find the other two I'd be much obliged.
I can see why you're stuck - you have an extra tree blocking the way. I just travelled back (what a trek!) to see that screen in my game, and my path is clear. See attached screenshots - yours and mine - to compare.
I can't point you further, sadly, as I have only done all of those except: Spoiler 12. Rites of Passage 13. Gem of Errask 16. Save the Realm Do you know where you picked those up?
Those are all quests you need to do to complete the game with some exploration, I'm in a situation where I could complete the game but the completionist in me wants to do everything.
I just deleted then re-installed QuestLord (switching final release beta to replay official release) so am trying to remember those last two quests but am drawing a blank. Edit: I can say that there are 18 quests and they are not really hidden; the QuestLord world just opens up a lot towards the end. Keep exploring. Interesting; I'll be curious to check out that area this playthrough. That seems like an odd bug. Definitely explore more of Cragmore; I think the region south of Norrab Citadel is your best bet.
Thanks! There are two boats south of Norrab, one takes me to Threznik, and the other takes me back to Cragmore/the mainland, to Buzzard Cove. I just can't find any way (and I've backtracked all the way to the Keep of Alestane) to access the areas south of the Keep.
Just below the Citadel keep south. There should be a second passage tucked the next tile over/west from the swamp boat entrance.
