@Mindchaoz - I think you are underestimating QuestLord's design. You might want to use spoiler tags ([spoiler.]...[/spoiler] without periods) but... Spoiler I think this is expected although you'll have to get further hints from Eric/LavaLevel. . From beta discussion (heavy spoiler) Spoiler "...In the Abyss there is a point.. (this is where I take a cue from Ultima 3) where you can go right up to the end. but until you figure out the rest it is just supposed to be a beat down. However I think one of my testers camped and maxed out his level there."
I've sent you a PM about this. And I'll wait for Eric's reply Edited my post too (adding spoiler tags) Thanks anyway.
I finaly figured that out after dying 5 times and saw I still had my 10 gold and exp. It is not a particular area per say ( though I am playing an elf just out of the starting area), just dont serm to be making any progress since I am really just gaining XP and not gold.
My first exploration of Crimson Caverns was not as thorough as it should have been. And congrats on the TA Plays article. Looks like I'm the first (and so far, only) player on Game Center to complete the game. Yay to me. I played as Human, and ended up with 14/18 achievements. Are all achievments attainable with one character? If at all possible, could you post a list of all achievements? It'll bug me forever, otherwise. Thank you for making this game, it's been great fun. I haven't played many games of this type over the years, (my attention span is way too short) but QuestLord has given me a taste of what I've been missing out on. It's incredible to think that this is made by one guy, that's just an amazing achievement, one you should be very proud of. Again, thank you. And kudos to the testers, and anyone else who contributed to the making of this fantastic little gem of a game. I loved reading all of the lore and stuff, and the nods to other works. In The Great Library, one of the books tells of a group of experimented on rats, who then escape the lab. But that couldn't possibly be a nod to Mrs Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, though, could it.
Hey everyone, First of all, this game is a blast, I have a great time with it. I'm at the point when I got the Amulet of Tanjee, but I'm playing a human character, so I can't read what the undead cow has to say for me. Can someone please write down it in spoiler tags? Thanks in advance!
I have that quest where I have to kill the ice giant. But can't reach him. I am stuck on a dead end on the mountains. Anyone can help ?
You should be able to walk around to reach the ice giant. There is a point were you may be able to see him before he is in range to fight but keep exploring towards that direction and you will get within range. There is no secret or known bug involving the ice giant. I killed him as have many others. This contains plot/quest spoilers if you don't have the amulet and is better experiences in game but the Undead Cow NPC in the human town says: Spoiler "Billie the undead Cow: You have returned to talk with me? How kind of you. You have fought long and hard to return all this way. Surely you know how to put a stop to Lord Drowsk? The Necromancer Fej would speak of it often, as he was not just a betrayer of Kyre, but a betrayer of all for his own gain. You must collect all the blue shards, take them to the Quad Chamber, recreate the Orb and bring it to Thelia. To unlock the Abyss you have to take both dark skulls and place them on in the Abyss. Go though the western and eastern entrances and you will find where to place each one. Listen for the click. Then slay Lord Drowsi!" I might be wrong but I think the Game Center achievements are linked to the 18 quests. Have you completed all the quests?
Thanks a lot for the undead cow text! UPDATE: Game finished, waiting for the countless expansions. ;-)
Will there be countless expansions? What is next in store for QuestLord? If it does well (being multi-platform will help) the developer may have to hire a team.
Once you complete the game you cannot continue the game, or even check what missions you've done. I probably missed some quests along the way, but would have to start a new game in order to find them.
HOLY VALKINS UNDEADCOW YOU ARE A MACHINE! I just came and PM'd him that! lol. catch up. note to self. breath, sit back read -entire- thread.
I noticed QuestLord broke the US App Store top 200 making it to 133 at the peak and is currently at 166. Turns out people are hungry for retro style RPG games. ...just stuck in a soul sucking desk job with too much time on my hands; and QuestLord is awesome enough it entertains me to follow the commentary here.
I love playing this wonderful game. But I came here to say that it turned me on to playing 'The Quest' so I d/l Quest Gold and I'm completely addicted. I had iPhone and was aware of this game since 2009. I'm so ashamed ! Anybody disappointed with the depth of Ravensword 2 who can handle turn based fighting should buy the game now. No disrespect to this game which is awesome. Thx to the dev for this game and turning me on to other turn-based non FF stuff. Edit : and life time achievement award goes to UndeadCow for his constant wit, well placed RPG guidence and general good humour over the years. 'Fall of Angels' still installed so thanks mate.
Haven't played this since first or second round of beta testing, but man it's huge now! Great job, Eric. So glad to pay for this one! I've spent most of my breaks today either playing or reading this forum to figure out things like healing, spell book finding, gold finding, etc. And I've got so far to go. Looking forward to getting home, having a pipe and Sherlocking the answers while questing!
My pleasure! In fact my first debut Touch Arcade article was covered with other rpgs. And if it wasn't for them doing that...And me looking at them... I probably would have released QuestLord that month and instead of you thanking me, you would have been cursing me. lol great games. woot! My thoughts and reasoning behind that. If I can make an expansion or sequel? THAT is the character I want for you to be able to take into it. So I sort of lock you up there so you don't find a spawn point and hit my level max ceiling. ooops I am so slow at this. I sent it to you too late I guess. AWESOME!!!! Congrats! Can you tell me... Did you turn on your game, log in and win. Or do you know if you had it on for a loooong time. I'm trying to figure out if I am not saving GameOvers, or if they are losing connection before they happen, etc. I think I can fix it with update 1.2 if check to see if there is a game that is won, and a maybe see if its score is logged. Sorry to nerdball you with the details while you are celebrating your hard earned victory!!! Spoiler re:Expansions.... do I elude to that or something? Oh man is that a satisfying compliment! Thank you thank you thank you! I will continue to bust ass for QuestLord!
I didn't think I'd like not being able to teleport anywhere, but its been a blast dying and finding my way around. It really gives me a sense of being on a quest! So grateful for the snowy levels by the way. My only suggestion for this game so far is to add that beautiful icon art behind the title screen and the menu screen. That's it! Again, solid design and programming. Wish I would've been able to test this game the whole way before buying it.
I'm just at the end of the game (I assume) and I must say it has been excellent/old school crack. It really sucks that there haven't been more first person dungeon crawlers on iOS (although Doom II RPG, Wolfenstein RPG, Undercroft, and the utterly massive The Quest own). Its a hardcore genre that works perfectly without buttons. I only played through the first few 3 expansions of The Quest and recently accidentally wiped my phone (without backing it up), but playing this makes me want to start over again. I started getting destroyed on the second Lukomere expansion. Does anyone remember if there is are any really gimped ways to develop your character?
I'm not sure if I used these spoiler tags right... Anyways, I needs some major help... Spoiler I'm towards the end game (I think). I'm in the Wastelands/Abyss area. I keep getting owned by these Bah-Lorn creatures. They are ridiculously strong! I can't kill any of them... Sometimes they even one shot kill me with almost full health... Does anyone have any advice? My gear is decent but I might be able to buy something better. Can someone point me to where the best place to buy gear is? I have plenty of money for just about anything right now. I'm desperate here!
