So, in the main story, are the maps also randomly generated, or is it just in the Quick Game?

I tried the Quick Game twice so far, using the mage, but I die very quickly. I mist learn the game better :)

So I have found shrines scattered through out the game, but I forgot/didn't see how to start at a particular shrine when the character gets killed.

I am having trouble getting gold, seems like it is only dropped at random. Without a rest to heal system, I have gotten myself into a bit of a wall.

You must first give an offering to a shrine. These shrines look like a female warrior. Once the offering, such as food or a potion is dropped and accepted, you will return to the shrine when you die, or by using the teleport spell.

Get a ring with health regen. When your health is low, walk around in circles ;)

There was I a time when I too felt that way until the QuestLord (who is a bit like Yoda) told me the only wall was in my head. QuestLord does not have permanent death in the main game and is open world so if you keep dying then try exploring in a different direction. Sometimes it also helps to backtrack to ensure you didn't miss any items/gold in previous areas. If you post your specific location / dilemma here maybe you could get more detailed hints.
Maps in the core game are not randomly generated; which means they are carefully crafted in sneaky and methodical manner to be more compelling.
Did you trigger aggravate enemy yet? The developer put in a code that if you dance around or repeatedly spam guard (anything other than forward/backward repeatedly) to try to frivolously harvest health ring enemies become more aggressive temporarily; also good if you want a challenge.

Yup, it doesn't seem like too much of a deterrent though, particularly if you've killed everything in your immediate vicinity. I've even tried to use it to lure enemies into more favorable battle locations but the effect seems to be minor. Maybe it should spawn enemies at your location?

Thanks for the reply, that's good to know.

Looking forward to spending a bit of quality time with the game!

That would be awesome if aggravate enemies also caused them to spawn and swarm you.

I've just picked up the Amulet of Tanjee and I'm dying to know what the undead cow has to say. Pun intended. :)

It looks like QuestLord has a sizeable first place lead so far in the Game of the Week poll; 14 votes to 6 for Cordy 2.

The Amulet of Tanjee is a lot of fun; at first I just thought the developer liked to pepper various animals throughout the game as some sort of attention to detail kind of thing; but no there's a secret there (maybe even a pivotal one).
It's worth backtracking for that one but it turns out he's an rambling fellow.

I was a bit sceptical at first because of the rather simplistic graphics, but I have to say the game is really good and quite addictive.

Just some ideas that came to my mind:
    • A compass on the main screen might be useful.
    • Signs above the doors would help with orientation. (Tavern, blacksmith, etc)
    • Maybe more colors for the level map? (Like green for trees, brown for gates, etc)

The undead cow still says moo-ha-ha-ha while I'm wearing the amulet. :(

All good points, written down in my brand new notebook.

Although compass was actually implemented and tested on local testers who found it even more confusing. You know you can look at the top of the map, see N and see where you are pointing. Say your pointing toward N, then you know right is East, etc. But all valid points worth revisiting.

    NEW BUG:

Only if you are a HUMAN... Undeadcow will not want to talk to you no matter what Amulet you are wearing. (thanks for the screenhots & sleuthing wade) Probably not going to get patched, patches are pretty dangerous business. Really dont want to upset people who d/l it trying to fix undeadCow. But Next build going forward, all races w/amulet will be able to talk to him.

You guys have probably noticed that the starter levels Roll different monsters that are way tougher if it is NOT your starter level? That's how this anomaly accrued.

    NEW BUG:

Sir Fobos WINS THE LOTTERY.(Thanks for the screen shots & sleuthing!) It is indeed true, yet only for Lord Huntlor in Quick Game, it is somehow randomly generating the SAME dungeon. Need to check my seed code on his QuickGame.

There will be updates. In fact I think I've mentioned this before but I plan to do a lot with the QuickGame and the enthusiasm shown for 'my little rpg that could' is incredible and makes me think modifications, expansions, additions would be possible if I continue to get such good level of support.

    Thank you all so much!

    Ok, this sucks.
    I think I'm almost ready.
Got 3 out of 4 Blue Chards for in the Quad Room.
Got 1 out of 2 Black Skulls for in the east and west side of Volcano.

Those big red beasts are too strong!!!!

I've killed some using fireball: those who are outside and the two inside volcano (west and eastside). Total of 5 or 6 beasts.

But now I'm broke (no gold left) and those bastards are inside (middle) too!
There is no way for me to kill them anymore. I got no potions, no money.
The fruitgarden is empty and I'm tired walking all the way thru empty maps.

That means two things: the game ends here, or there is a solution I don't know.
If the game ends here then I won't start over.
Some other things: When I place a portal to the city, I would like the portal to stay there, to be able to travel back.
