I know that it's coming out the 9th, and that the event is taking place at 1pm EST. My question is, will the iPod Touch 3rd Generation be available before 1pm at BestBuy? Or does it only officially go on sale after it is announced? And, do you think BestBuy will sell the iPod Touch 3rd Generation right on the day of the 9th?
Nah, don't think so. What'd be the point of unveiling the product if you can get it before the conference even begins? It'll go on sale at least a week after being announced. It builds up hype and pressure.
Yeah, the only reason I'm asking is because I remember getting the last iPod Touch 2G somewhere around the day it was announced... So do you guys think it'll go for sale on Thursday? Edit: Here's a video at last year's event when they announced the iPod Touch 2G. Fast forward to the ending part, and you'll see that Steve says that the new iPods were available on the day it was announced...
thats actually really solid harbinger that the 3rd gen will come out the day of the event too...iu have a 75$ bestbuy gift card that is ready to finally be spent.
And also, the buy a mac, get a free ipod touch offer ends the 8th, which probably means that the new one will come out the 9th. they set the offer ends date to the 8th in order to avoid confusion or have ppl wanting the new ipod touch for free when ordering a mac.

I saved up enough money for the new iPod Touch that's coming out on Wednesday, hopefully it'll come out on the same day! Good observation, I really hope it does! I didn't realize how empty my life is without my iPod Touch!

Damn! When they say "delayed production", does that mean the new iPods won't be available right on the day of announcement like last year? Or does it simply mean they produced some "good" iPods, and somewhere down the line of production there were defected ones?
