So I have a great PC and a Xbox 360, I'm about to pre-order/purchase the game Brink. The problem is that a bit of my friends want me to buy it for the Xbox, but I'd like to focus on PC gaming instead. Is it possible to purchase Brink for the Xbox, but then have a chance to return the game and switch it for the PC version (if I'm not satisfied)?

Dude Walmart will take anything back. I am almost certain you can do this, given you have the recipt. Just tell them you got the game for your cousin or some shit for his birthday, but that isn't the version he wanted.

As per the Wal-Mart Returns Policy website:

So, no, I don't think you can return your game after trying it out. Maybe you could spill them a fib or two to entice them to take it, but it's iffy.

Haha thanks bro! Yeah that's what I was thinking also. There's another problem though :O.. If you're familiar with the game Brink, there's a special bonus you get for pre-ordering the game, say if I pre-ordered it from Walmart, but then I wanted to switch it back on the same day/next day. The special bonus will not be given on the PC because it wasn't pre-ordered for it, unlike Bad Company 2, where you just had to switch it with another VIP CD :p

    Anyways much appreciated!

Yes I am aware of that :p, but I know they will allow you to switch CDs with the same game, thanks anyways mate!

Guess it could also depend on your Wal-Mart too. Our Wal-Mart here in this little ass town I live in is retarded. Literally, red-neck retards and tweekers work there so they don't give a shit. Half the time they don't even ask for a recipt. I had a friend who worked at a place called Beals and he had friends come in a steal shit for him (he was the Assist Manager) and then take it back to Wal-Mart where I lived and exchange it for cold hard cash. It was genius really. LOL

It's an iffy situation dude, but you might be able to get away with it.

Wal-Mart is hella strict on anything to do with media. CD's, DVD's, video games, etc. I get the impression they've been scammed so hard by so many idiots that if you don't bring them back exactly what you bought, in basically untouched condition, they won't take it back... And understandably so. They can't re-sell an opened video game, and it's not like they can send it back as defective because you didn't like it or wanted it on a different system.

That's probably how it is in your area, the last time I tried to return the game, they allowed me to switch it with the same game :p, twice actually. Gamestop however, is really strict in this area, just like how you explained it with Walmart's return policy.

Walmart is pretty restrictive here as well for games, dvds, film, etc. There's signs every stating their return policy and question you if 5+ items are returned within 2 weeks even.
Remember I'd brought in a Nano iPod and they scrutinized those tiny code numbers to verify it was actually the same one I'd bought. I'm all for this because anyone that takes advantage of said policy passes that onto higher pricing for me and all the other consumers.

I've returned iPads, iPods, and a whole bunch of other devices just to test drive them, use them bring them back, get a scratch on one that I can't live with it. As long as you have the packaging, receipt and are within the return date. It doesn't matter what you tell them, they'll always ask if it's defective just so they can catogorize it correctly. They always take it back, however digital media seems to be exempt and can only be exchanged or returned for store credit.

That seems about right, I went to Walmart today to pre-order my game, the guy told me to go to customer service, I said alright. After I reached that area, they said they didn't pre-order games :p... Meh.. At least I pre-purchased it on Steam :D

Some stores in the UK say they won't accept returns on games that have been opened, but if you tell 'em it's faulty they won't have much of a choice. They might try and make you swap it for the same version but if you say it freezes your console or something they might allow you to grab the PC copy.
