Don't ask me why, but I've been practicing holding my breath for the past week. My high so far is 1 minute, 41 seconds. My question is: Do I still count the time for holding my breath as I breath out? So if I must stop, and I slowly breath out, will that count for me, or should I stop the clock as soon as I breath out?
Um, this is kind of a weird question, but no, I don't think that breathing out should count as time on the clock. I think that as soon as the inside of your mouth comes in contact with the air outside of your mouth, stop the clock.
That's what I do too. Exhaling when I can't hold my breath any longer. Also I want to know if it is bad for you if you breath your own.... Whats the word... I'll just say exhale. A couple times I tried holding my breath and when i need air I bloat my cheeks in and out so I can breath my exhale, Giving me some extra seconds. Wow. That was hard to explain. Would that be bad for you?
Same thing here ! But I have no idea if it's bad for you - it probably doesn't do you any good though.
You should not count the time spent on exhalation. That's cheating! Not necessarily bad, but not helpful either. The amount of "air" (oxygen + carbon dioxide, etc.) that is present when you puff out your cheeks is insignificant. The volume is too small to make a difference. In addition, there is insufficient pressure to force that small volume of "air" back into your lungs deeply enough to cause any oxygenation of the lung tissue. You may feel a bit of relief in puffing out your cheeks, but this is due to slightly relieving the uncomfortable pressure of holding your breath.
Just make sure if you pass out you don't hit your head on anything. I'm being serious I've seen it happen. And breathing out should count as breath still held on the clock.
I dunno. When you think about it, you should be able to breath out and still have it count. It would underwater. Thanks gekkota. Anyways, I got 2:03 at school today w/o exhaling.
I have gotten 2:18 before, my friend got over 3 minutes. And to answer your question, no it should not count. The reason that you want to breathe out so much is because of all the excess CO2 in your lungs, that your body needs to get rid of. Exhaling is stopping "holding" your breath by letting it go.
Try holding your breath while sitting down moving as little as possible. The more you move the more oxygen you need.
