So I finally upgraded to 3.1.2 from 2.2.1 and I'm fairly satisfied, except for one thing. What the hell is up with double tapping home? Yes yes, it's been like 7 months or something since 3.0 came out and now I ask the questions, but bear with me, I don't want to have to hunt when I can just ask! So double tapping home, at least on 2.2.1, brought up whatever song was playing on the iPod and you could pause, change songs, etc. With 3.0, it still does it........But not all the time. The menu has three options for double tapping home: home, ipod, and search. It seems whenever I'm IN an app, double tapping it, which used to be a great way to change songs without having to quit the game, now brings up one of those three things. Am I missing something? When I'm not in an app, when I don't care about quitting in the middle of a game, double tap brings up the quick music menu (or whatever you want to call it), which seems like the exact opposite of what should be happening. I ask because the GTA personal station sucks and I want to listen to my own music (because the in game music also sucks).
Double-tapping to bring up the music menu in-game was disabled in 3.0+, now it just exits the app and opens the iPod app. If you're jailbroken, download iPodPop, it makes it so that double-tapping always brings up the iPod controls.
can we change the rate at which we tap it? Cuz sometimes i miss or my finger slides, and i dont want to exit GTA when im about to complete a mission
man my life is just falling apart, no more itunes cash after GTA, and now, oily fingers prevent me from changing a song in GTA, i need to get a grip...gah...
That's lame, seems like a step backwards. But then why even leave it in at all? It works on the home menu, which seems...stupid. I'm thinking that someone just overlooked it or something. Anyways, thanks for the info.
I've just noticed double tapping Home doesn't even work for me... is there a way to disable it? Maybe it's something to do with me being jailbroken... I know I didn't intentionally make any changes.
It is a step backwards, but no I don't think it was overlooked; it was intentional. For what reason? Who knows..but I found a fix for it so it doesn't bother me anymore -Sorry for double post-
I don't like it either. I hope 4.0 make things better. Copy and paste was activated in firmaware 2.xx. It isn't in 3.xx and it annoys me a lot because I have very long and difficult passwords. So, whenever I want to update or buy an app from ipod touch, I have to enter the password manually.Does anyone know how to fix that?
Man that's really annoying. I wanna know why my double tap function seems to have been switched off permanently. Edit: got it working, still wanna know how starjimstar manages that though...
I'm also on 3.1.2 and when I enable iPod in "Double-click the Home Button for:" it closes opened application and opens full music player, not this pop-up! Very confusing EDIT: Fixed
Cheater! But seriously, it does seem to work occassionally if Im in an app, but not 100%. It's a mystery to me.
I'm pretty sure that if you're inside an application, the music player menu will only show up (when you double click home) if you already have music playing.
