I agree with you on all points. But by taking a single line out of context you have essentially created a straw dog- both favourite ploys of the politician. Why would anyone find it interesting that two sets of digits may each add up to the same number? No, my amusement lies in the fact that the digital sequences of both years, when each summed and then joined together, results in an English phrase, accurate or not, that is popularly used to express excellence of vision- a benefit in problem solving. As I do not know how many words actually exist, let alone common phrases, I couldn't begin to calculate the odds of such a confluence of events. I suspect it may be somewhat smaller than 10%. As fallentreegames demonstrates, numerous coincidences can be found by those who look closely. While such finds may amuse us, they are of little significance so I'll just leave it at that. By the way, Quell seems an interesting puzzle and I thank the developer for this freebie. I've only played a bit of it so far and trust the problems will become more difficult. If so, I'll certainly buy Quell:Reflect.
Re: GoneFishin I did not intend to make a "ploy" or a "straw dog" or to act like a dog-eat-dog "politician." In fact, I thought I was being polite. I already understood why you were amused. But I felt compelled to respond to the extreme language in your earlier post. While the phrase "twenty-twenty" may be a figure of speech, "clearest vision" implies best, and "of course" implies absoluteness. To proclaim that you "just love" a coincidence you noticed, along with the superfluously cheeky grin graphic, appears self-congratulatory. First, the phrase "twenty-twenty" is not intrinsic to the game Quell; it was an appropriate statement about an observation you had made that being perceptive is helpful to doing well in a puzzle or logic-oriented game. The phrase was not chosen at random, which makes it irrelevant that there exist many English idioms and words. The thrust of my post is that there weren't strictly two years in Quell whose digits sum to 20 and that it wasn't surprisingly improbable. I even alluded to how it was notable that the first and last years of the shelves each have digits that sum to twenty. Quell was a positive experience for me too, and I don't want this thread to unravel because of quibbling about numerology and semantics. It can be fun to occasionally try to wrap our heads around what seems mysterious. What's most important is that we try to make the best of our minds and that we were exposed to the treasure that is Quell. And I do recommend purchasing Quell: Reflect at some point.
Quite right. I think this is just meant to be a bit of fun, the developer asking us what we think the story is behind the game. Let's not take it too seriously guys! Quell is a gorgeous game which I highly recommend - whatever the story is! I'm looking forward to the developer c

Quell is a gorgeous game which I highly recommend - whatever the story is! Having said that I am looking forward to the developer letting us all know what the original story behind the game was. By the way, it's great to see such an iOS game coming out of the UK - the AppStore can be very US-centric at times. Shows we can do more than just loot and riot here in Britain!
