Is there a star system at all for completing in so many moves or anything or do you just win the level no matter how many moves? I do kind of like both ways but it’s always nice to know what to expect. But 156 levels sounds good for the price and for some reason I do enjoy puzzle games and have a fair few of them even though I usually get stuck! @ROGER-NL your the puzzle master, so thought I’d tag you. spaceboy and ROGER-NL like this. spaceboy Member Nov 12, 2020 11 8 3 Male Developer Berlin https://www.queenrulesgame.com #3 spaceboy, Nov 14, 2020 Hi @ste86uk I’m new here and glad to be in touch with other game lovers to exchange ideas. Very happy you were getting in touch with me The start system is a good point, in this first version of the game I tried to create a non competitive experience, not even against yourself trying to get a better result. But in next updates that will be different and I love you ask me about it. By one hand we have the star system, which tells you how well you were completing a level. Another idea came to me was to show how many moves took the best player, kind of a high score of the level, so you don’t re-play to get more stars but to make less movements than the rest of players. What do you think about the high score approach? Maybe to have both is best? Looking forward to know your oppinion. About getting stuck playing Queen Rules puzzles, the whole team is very supportive and we are super happy to share videos of the levels players get stuck @ROGER-NL if you like puzzle games, this is a goldmine. It was very interesting to make it. The basic game mechanics are a few, but as the game develops new mechanics appear by emergence (promise I didn’t design them), that was fascinating me. The puzzle gets deeper and deeper, was very interesting to design the levels, but I guess that’s another thread. Pulsar, ste86uk and ROGER-NL like this. As for the game and it’s systems it’s a tough one as it is nice to have a relaxing puzzle game with no pressure to get a certain score to get 3 stars and just completing the level is the achievement. If a star system is added they need to be balanced very well to feel fair and not frustrating. A turn counter also is similar if it limits turns to get 3 stars but if it’s just a counter for score that’s not as bad. Some people do enjoy high score chasing but I suppose with a puzzle game there’s only so well you can go on a puzzle so high scores maybe don’t make sense. spaceboy likes this. In fact all the levels of the game can be completed just merging 2 soldiers, it was designed to be like that. The mechanic of merging more than one soldier with the same number or ‘combo’, is hidden. It’s something the player will have to discover to complete levels in less time. There are also other mechanics that the player will need to find out to progress. On social networks we attend to players are stuck, kind of a game help, we are posting videos of challenging levels. The one of level 82 was produced by myself. Let me ask you please, which experience you prefer? Playing boards with enemies or boards just deploying soldiers? ROGER-NL likes this.
