It has more to do with your Internet connectivity and device capability. NOVA 3 and O&C's VC works just fine, same with lots of gamecenter games as well. The quality of the network code also contributes. That was a great idea on their part.
Believe when I say that the network code is the thing that contributes the most. For instance, some days ago I was trying to play SFxTK with a friend. We tried friendlies. It was lagless, but in last version of that game friendlies are very unstable, so after a while the game crashed and then that mode stopped working. Then we met in ranked matches, and the lag was just stupidly HUGE. We decided to play Volt instead, and lagless again. Oh, it's strange that the description of the app doesn't say anything about number of players in the same match, but well. Just like in the web version, it allows up to 32 players at once. You can also change graphics like enabling/disabling ragdolls, blood and effects for better performance.
I am just wondering why UI looks awful from your point of view? I like the simplicity and minimalistic style of the UI. I think this is just matter of taste .
I don't see this game in the Play store, only Critical Missions: SWAT which costs £2.58 Also, you'll only like the 'free' Android games if you love a s***load of adverts absolutely everywhere in game. A good Android game equates to spending some £ - much like ios. Don't hate, the grass isn't greener over here.
Simplistic? How many iOS FPSs have you had the pleasure of playing? The controls are too big. Too noticeable. The joystick shouldn't even appear on the left side of the screen without me touching that part of the screen. The opacity needs to be turns waayyyy down, the size of everything needs to be decreased, and in general cleaned up to look like Gameloft's shooter controls. Right now it just looks...terrible. I know you can customize the controls yourself in the menu, but to me having those kind of issues in the appstore screenshots isn't a good indication of actual polish ingame.
Just wanted to pop in and say great game. I stumbled onto this 2 days ago and have been absolutely loving it. My team is still pathetically weak but I can see myself spending a lot of time on this game. Shame it always needs an internet connection (although I understand why) as that means I can't play it on the subway which I ride every day. Still thanks for the great game!
I'm sure I said it when I left impressions but I'll go again seems as there are many comments about the ui. The buttons are fully customisable. They can all be moved to wherever anyone likes on screen and they can all be resized. The only ones that cannot be moved are radar and timer if I remember correctly. So, anybody who's played a Gameloft shooter knows what I mean and can essentially match them up to whatever layout they use in one of them. The movement joystick does not appear on screen until you tap to move and disappears once you lift off. And it is essentially a white circle that is opaque anyway and more or less invisible under your thumb anyway. The screenshot is simply a visual representation of what control buttons are available and the customisation level is as high as anybody would wish for. And they are set to that particular default layout at install for a very good reason related to it being a universal app. In relation to opacity, they have a level of opacity already. Granted, having an option to increase or decrease it is now normal on most (not all) Gameloft shooters but it is no way an issue. The app description actually gives directions on how to change the control set up. Finding a comfortable layout is easier than the vast majority of shooters on iOS and easily comparable to Gameloft levels of customisation and responsiveness. On another note, Critical Missions SWAT isn't free on Google. There is a "light" version available on both iOS and Android so some who are worried about paying for an app that's free on Android, that's not actually the case. Critical Strike portable is free but that was essentially the Beta (more or less and still is for android) for the improved SWAT version. Its also worth noting that there are no in app purchases. Something I've seen mentioned and requested many, many times by many people on here who hate in app. You may see a money amount when you purchase a weapon in game but that in now way relates to actually having to go and buy in app coins because the money to buy weapons is earned in game very quickly and in fact irrelevant to the gameplay anyway because you get coins at the beginning of each match anyway for nothing and earn plenty in game to rebuy weapons all day long.
Really? Haven't had an android device for a long time and when it first came out, it was free and no advertisements. Main problem I had was the fact that it felt like I was supporting the android users rather than supporting the dev.
And that's a very fair point that I understand very well. But the initial Critical Strike Portable was a hobby project by one of the lead developers of the company. Once he came on board with Studio on Mars, they saw the download numbers and decided to develop his hobby project into something more developed and supported and that became Critical Missions SWAT. It was no longer a hobby project and needed monetization to develop further and to support the servers hence the price point for the SWAT version. But they kept iap out of it. And they continued to use the hobby version as a form of open beta for the android platform. How much further that version will be supported is unknown really because the number of downloads it got was extremely high and makes it difficult from a pr perspective to pull it but it is not the full version that is a payed download. It is more of an open beta in reality.
Glad to hear you like it! I don't know how far you are right now, but later on, some Dungeons can take quite a bit of time to complete. Luckily, you only need an internet connection for certain things: entering/exiting Dungeons, changing your team, using the Egg Machines, managing Friends, etc. If you want, you can queue up a Dungeon when you have internet, then go where you plan to go and play till your hearts content. Unfortunately, you can't leave the dungeon until you are safely back online. Hope that helps!
I don't understand where all this hate is coming from. Rip73 was spot-on with his review, and if it's even remotely like CM: SWAT, then it's definitely worth a buy. It not exactly taking one for the team if its an extremely fun game created with love and has a fanbase that's always online. CM: SWAT is like one of my favorite shooters on iOS. And JBRUU, the UI may not be the best, but I think you're being very picky about the controls. I've never had a problem with them.
I just got through the temple of trials and am in the vulcan volcano. I have only gotten one pull from the rare egg machine (used my next 5 magic stones to upgrade my monster box capacity) and gotten complete junk from my 3 PAL egg machine pulls (only been playing 3 days). So my team is my first rare egg machine pull (mystic light knight), my starting red dragon evolved once, and then 3 carbuncles (two of which I have evolved once). EDIT: beat the volcano last night... kept playing it though instead of moving on to the next stage as it was double coins... that let me really upgrade my team. Played the Echnida level 20+ times (thank you rank ups giving stamina back) but sadly didn't get her to drop an egg. And now I need to farm the temple of trials for dragon plants. Have been having bad luck getting eggs off those guys too. I need to make my dragon bigger though :- ) So overall I imagine I'm about where is to be expected for 3 days in. I'll keep plugging away and hoping to get a better pull on my next rare egg pull (yeah I won't be buying any magic stones). That will be a bit though as I just spent my last 3 magic stones upgraded me monster box capacity even more... So does that mean I can only do one dungeon run between internet connections? Because a lot of those last only a few minutes for me... If I could redo the same level over and over and grind away stuff before reconnecting, then that would help a lot... but only doing one dungeon run doesn't help too much. I appreciate the tip none the less though!
Yeah in this case it does mean 1 run per internet connection. Later on, this wont be so bad since the more challenging special event dungeons can take quite a bit of time. Glad to hear you are enjoying the game! For some great resources check out our official Facebook as well as the fantastic fan-made forums and database. https://www.facebook.com/PuzzleAndDragonsOfficial http://www.puzzledragonx.com/ http://puzzleanddragonsforum.com/ Note: a lot of users may try to convince you to "reroll" to get a better starting free Rare Egg Machine Monster. I've always found this more trouble than it's worth, but some swear by it. I got a pretty bad pull my first time too, and then a pretty good one once I saved up a few more stones. I've personally never regretted not re-rolling. (re rolling is basically deleting and redownloading the game - hoping that when you finish the tutorial you get something amazing)
Not sure where this came from, but it's well worth 3 bucks. The graphics are pretty simple and nowhere near Gameloft levels of FPS polish, but the gameplay itself is incredibly fun. It controls really well and there are a huge variety of maps and modes. The best thing about this game, though, is how fast and easy it is to jump into a multiplayer match. I just timed it from a fresh start of the app, and I was shooting dudes in less than 30 seconds, on my iPad 2. This one's a keeper.

Thanks for the tips. Originally I was not going to reroll (I played all weekend long with my old characters even) but upon reading the forums you linked to today and seeing WHY they suggest rerolling..... I bit the bullet. Sad to see all my guys disappear but I really am glad I did. After about 10 rerolls... I landed an archangel Raphael with +HP already. I didn't even know + eggs popped out of the REM. Needless to say I'm good now. Time to go blast through all the beginners levels again.
