Just installed update after first resetting old game that had been hit with the 'no string ' bug and now game crashes everytime after entering town name. Same issue that a lot of other people are having. The developers are being very quite. The real pity here is that when it worked it was an excellent game. For me it has nothing to do with the price. I hope this can eventually be sorted. Not going to delete it just yet in case. Still hoping to give this one a 5 star review
Hmmm...so you restarted a new town before updating? It's kind of unfortunate the patch hit on the weekend. Hopefully they can get this sorted out. Maybe after the game is working for everybody, they can push the bonus coins again.
I started playing this game on my original iPad (before I found out that cloud saves didnt actually mean you cold continue progress on other iOS devices) and so now after the update on the original iPad, 9 times out of 10 the game crashes on the new second loading screen they added. Bummer. Not sure why they need to have two loading screens now, but it doesn't seem to help any. Otherwise, I did get the 5,000 coins, so I guess that compensates me for the failed IAP I had tried earlier.
Same here. No problems before the patch, no problems afterwards. Plus I have the 5000 coins. I downloaded the update to my phone directly, through the App Store, not via a computer through iTunes. iPhone 4, most recent OS, not jailbroken. iCloud Backup turned off.
same, mine was fine before the patch and after the patch, i got the 5k gold, i guess im one of the lucky ones.
Has anyone who has gotten the 5000 coins been able to reset the game and get them again? If so, I'm going to start over so I can get the worker the game lost.
I'm fairly certain that won't work. The 5000 gold only goes to saved games carried over from the previous version.
I don't even understand why you want the 5000 coins. The game gives you plenty of the things you need anyway. The IAP in this game is pretty obtrusive, but, at the same time, I don't really understand why anyone would buy it.
the game is running decently for me. as I said before, it only seems to work if my device is in safe mode. however, even then it seems to crash after twenty minutes or so. at this point, running the game again doesn't work-- just crashes-- and I have to reboot my device before it will again. I don't mind that much but it's a minor annoyance. Edit: wanted to note that these problems are only on my iPod 4, not on my iPad 2. It runs flawlessly on iPad 2, without ever crashing. Also, the swipe detection on the smaller screen is really shifty at times...half of the time it "sticks" or it doesn't recognize a swipe if I move too quickly. It's fine on the iPad.
I bought the game just before the update. Didn't have any problems at all, but since the update the tools scroll bar in the puzzle screens is really flakey. Gets stuck on certain tools all the time so I can't scroll through to pick what I need. I know it's minor compared to what a lot of players are facing but I was just wondering if anybody else had seen this? (I'm on an iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1. )
There are three reasons why everyone is so ticked off: 1) The devs have been bullsh1tting us from the beginning about this 'rush fix'. We all know how this was supposed to go down, I assume the truth is they really couldn't fix the bug this whole time. 2) The game is so incredibly polished in every other way that it is simply unbelievable that such a horrific bug would slip by, something that COMPLETELY DESTROYS EVERYTHING. 3) the bug isn't rare, in fact I would say it is rare that someone HASN'T encountered the bug. How is this possible with a game of this caliber? How COULD they have not known about it? (ps. rhetorical question). And now... The 'fix' is out, which not only insults people by denying them the pathetic excuse for an apology (5000 coins... please...) but adds more new and improved showstopper mega bugs.
Don't make accusations you can't prove bro. Developers want their games to succeed, of course they got to work fixing it as soon as it became apparent. Logic 101. Also, bugs get through; size doesn't matter. Gaming 101.
My words the whole time. People act as if the devs put all the bugs in on purpose. And to accuse the devs that they are intentionally "bullsh1tting" people is just... well, stupid. Especially when you look at the quality of the game. Of course, bugs happen to get through all the time. When you look at the daily list of released fixed... you could ask yourself is there is a game without any bugs in existence, actually. Which bugs were added? I had these crashes after the update, too. If the game crashes after the update, uninstall it, restart your device, reinstall the game and restart the device once more.. I did and have no crashes since. And no no_string error. Oh, I did not get my 5k in coins. But I don't sit in a corner, desperately crying. I like to archieve things myself, so no need for these coins. Maybe this would have been a nice backup for the later game, but it's nothing people really need. Now I grab my popcorn and wait for the first one to demand a $10-iTunes-giftcard as compensation for their unbelievable, horrible buggy experience with the game, including the development of a depression or other mental disorder.
I got one crash today, after several hours of play. I was in the mines and it seemed to try to set off two separate gas explosions, the second one left a blank area on the screen, froze for a second, and then the app crashed. It doesn't sound related to the other bugs. The game eventually gets a little monotonous. I'm doing the same thing over and over, to accumulate resources for the various remaining buildings. I wish the late-game buildings were a bit cheaper so that I could advance through them faster. Getting new powers does keep the game interesting, but they aren't coming quite as fast as I'd like.
Hi everyone. So this thread jumps around a fair bit and in order to avoid sifting through the past 20 pages or so...can anyone who is experiencing a crash AFTER updating please give me some more details? I would like device, iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened if possible? Thanks
@Dan and ArsThanea: Bug details: iPad2, no jailbreak, latest iOS. Updated online via AppStore (not iTunes). Game crashes, no reset or new town possible. Removed app, reinstalled and it works as it should. Except the following error: Same here. I went into the mine, got an explosion, later a second explosion and later or maybe simultaneously a third one. The last explosion left a blank (black tiles) area around the gas, the game freezed for a second and then crashed. After it I started it again, loading took quite a while, but then I could continue as normal. It happened during level 13-15.
The update and meaningful discussion of it and it's various issues start on page 64 of this thread. Please consider reading it.
