I had patience. I defended the game. I recommended the game. I sunk my time into the game. To quote the fantastic Mr. Piper: I came here to kick *** and chew bubblegum... And I'm all out of bubblegum!" There is no reason for the continued stream of problems. - this rush fix shouldn't have gone through immediately. App store rush fixes are pushed through at a very expedited rate if it's the first time. Anyone knows that. - an explanation should have been placed in the app description warning about the problem. - the bug testing was clearly inadequate with the number of complaints. I don't think I've seen an issue to this caliber in a long time, especially in a Chillingly based app That's all. I've had my say. If you don't like it, ignore me. I'm going to sleep.
i actually never got an error, i just logged in today after installing the update. got my 5k and im good. Thanks devs for the 5k!!
This is how I'm picturing some of the people on this thread, judging by their responses after(and before) the update: iOS gaming is serious business.
Acomplete campaign, haven't seen any bugs at all. The game is gem, would love to have update with more matching boards like fishing or hunting.
Updated mine Mines fine. This game is a gem, truly an original title with a huge amount of depth and future potential, please allow it to reach potential and support it. They messed up. But in a time when game companies get shut down every week, we need these underrated gems to stand out!
You are right, I totally appreciate such companies and the devs efforts. I just wish things had been (even) more transparent in our communication in here and in the app store. That would definitely had helped to avoid disappointment. I don't see all this too negative. People complaining seem frustrating to the devs but they are proof that a lot of players actually care about the game. They are emotional about it, which is a good sign. The worst thing to happen would have been everyone just deleting it. Now for future updates, here is what I still miss: - in the screen "do you want to save that field" and "buy 3 more moves for the mine" I want to see how many coins I actually have to ease that decision. - the same screens should be transparent or offer a button "see current field", to make sure I can check the layout before I decide to continue. It is important to me to see where the 3 pieces of coal are before I decide to buy 3 more moves. - In fact it would be good to see how many coins I have in almost every screen, especially during instabuy. - it would be great if I can move buildings. Doesn't sound logical, since in real life once it's built it stands where it is. But while testing where I want to build a hut I accidentally double dapped and the hut was built in a place where I didn't want it. It would be über-cool if buildings can be moved afterwards. As in re-arranging apps on your home screen: a long push and they stars wobbling, which is when we can move them the way we want.
i'm just astounded at the people in this thread. i mean I waited months for Dungeons of Dredmor to get its save-eating bugs fixed. twice. no big deal, just add this game to your appshopper list and when it updates then you can try again. go find something else to play in the meantime...it's not hard.
Have the devs responded to the issue of people who had no bug before the update losing their game, and being unable to start a new one after the update? I'm a bit scared to update since the iTunes reviews show a lot of people who didn't even have no string lost their saves and can't restart, and a couple members here posted the same experience with the update.
I did not have the bug (I stopped playing the game waiting for the fix) and just updated through iTunes on my PC. No problems at all and I received the 5K coins.
I actually needed a shot of adrenaline I was so rage after finding this out. I'd have posted sooner but I needed a quadruple bypass due to all my pent up strea and nerd rage... This is my biggest issue. I see a game that had promise to become a monster on the app store. It's match 3 meets triple town meets Kairosoft. It has oh so much potential and I was jumping with joy when I discovered it and started playing it. I buy lots of games that sit and die, but this was one I was genuinely excited about. So to have things bungled every step of the way is simply ridiculous. Any number of steps and measures as a good faith gesture would have been enough for a lot more understanding on many of our parts. But each step of the way it's been mistake upon mistake upon mistake. And I'll take this forum as an opportunity to voice my feelings. It's here for that. Believe it or not I was not exploding with rage as I typed that. I was far from happy, but I also was a thousand leagues away from screaming out loud and throwing my phone against a brick wall. I'll speak my mind those times it's needed, and I won't apologize about articulating what I think many people are feeling. And I stress, had this been handled differently, at least from a communication level, many of these concerns wouldn't have been stated. But I experience the bug, wait and wait for a supposed rush updated, see the developers neglect to inform potential new buyers about a very common issue, then once the update hits have it not work and all the promises get tossed out the window, it's crazy to not bring that forth and ask the developers to answer for that.
See here @andsoitgoes: I completely get what you're saying.this game had huge potential and it's amazing to see how a bit of failed communication and some unfortunate mistakes can turn the whole thing so negative. The biggest surprise to me is that Chillingo was involved with this. They have a ton of games, some I love, some I don't care for, but the one thing they all have in common is a degree of polish and reliability. I always assumed they were somehow involved in QC for their releases since they always seem to put out very professional seeming releases from indie devs. I feel bad for AT and the situation they're in but I also feel bad for Chillingo and hope this hasn't tarnished their reputation too much. Anyway, for my part, I'm waiting a bit longer to update just in case this lost progress for people without the no string bug is a new issue that the devs haven't discovered yet. Of course in the meantime, I might get hit with the no string bug
Seriously? They put that VITAL information into the thread here but not in the iTunes update? /facepalm I'm sure everyone experiencing this problem visited these forums before updating. You honestly couldn't have just put that in the iTunes update description? Instead you said "Update and you'll get coins!". Mo, Larry and Shemp.
Game Impressions Hmm Looks like we have an interesting game here... As i have seen from the YouTube videos, it look fun and it has nice graphics! I think i will buy it now!
In the grand scheme of things, starting over isn't that big of a deal since, after all, the core game is a match 3, not exactly something you approach for the sheer novelty of the gameplay. And I don't even care that much about the missing 5K coins since I've never had money issues in this game. You only need the coins if you're intent on building without resources, and since you get the resources from playing the match 3 game portion, you're skipping actual content to rush. However, it is still disappointing to see such a major bug make it through such a long update development process. If I'm reading the tea leaves right, it looks like if you updated your game through iTunes, the update works as promised, but if you downloaded the update directly to your device, it breaks the game. That is something that should have been caught in testing. $1 or $60, no sense fixing a game if you can't handle the most basic of QA testing.
I have a new problem (not related to no string): When I upgraded to a settlement, I clicked a bonus on the ground that gave me 1 more worker. It appeared up top: 1 worker. But then I went to go check my email. When I came back, the game relaunched and the worker is gone! The town is already a settlement and I can't find any way to get this worker back! But if I start over, I'm afraid I won't get the 5000 coin bonus again! What do I do?
5000 coins is worth a lot more than a worker (you can hire as many as you want once you have the right building). I'd just keep going.
The max number of Worker for Hire is only 30. It's only a problem if you want to hire all the workers since you'll be short of 1.
