@Markku: If you're new user you can buy game. The saves are safe after update 1.01. Please give us your feedback if everything works.
Then why does the update text in the AppStore say, all we have to do is update? This was pretty confusing. Another line of text would have probably done the trick. Anyway, I am happy the game is working again.
You don't have to do that but it's the only way to get additional money. If someone has NO string bug it means his save is gone and we cannot recognize him as existing player. If you start the village and then install update should work.
Sooo glad I installed the update Like others posting above me, I had no problems before but the update corrupted the save game so I had no choice but to start a new game, but then it crashed every time I entered the name, so I had to uninstall and reinstall so, of course, no coins to make up for the bug I never suffered from in the first place, yay!
I know. But the German info in the AppStore says "we want to apologize for the bugs with 5000 coins. To get them just download the update." The way it is written clearly indicates a) even user that never had the bug get the coins and b) user that had the bug - like me - can get the coins just by updating. What's missing is the line "make sure to start a new game (or reset game) before updating". I should have known better since I am in this forum. But you better be sure the updated product info is pretty misleading, at least the German translation. /edit: damn, am I blind. So it's really a) every player updating gets the coins. Those that had the error and those that never had it? But people like me that had the error but didn't follow the forum but the app store info get no coins? Tough.
Update seems ok... So far so good. First off thank you to the Devs that hopefully fixed the "no string" bug, only time will tell. Thank you for the gift of 5k coins, alleviates some of the frustration of starting over, again. I'm not sure, but seems like the animations have been improved. Also, one thing, when I get my supplies from the scarecrow it kicks it out near the "harvest" icon. When I try to retrieve the gained supplies I hit the harvest icon by mistake, all my supplies are gone. Are they added to my total or erased because of hitting the harvest icon? Can the Devs explain this issue?
Crap, I deleted the game waiting for the fix so guess I won't get the 5000 coins. Oh well, still glad to see the update out.
Had the same experience. Never had no string bug but did have multiple crashes prior to update (namely game would only start up after 6 or so attempts). Updated, now it wants me to start a new game. That sucks. I don't plan to start a new game till its safe. Let me know when that is.
Same here. Immediately when I saw the "no string" bug I stepped away from the game, reading here that a fix was on its way. And now that I run the update as soon as it was available - I'm actually punished for it? Umm... devs, please give me my 5000 gold or restore my old game from before the bug. You messed up, not me. Thanks in advance.
And how do I get the 5000 gold if I installed the update (and then started a new game), just like the update description told me? Please fix this, for me and other players who would have had nothing but good will towards you if it weren't for this "misunderstanding".
This needs to go on the app store description as of yesterday really. My game is ruined because it didn't say anything like this.
I followed the directions exactly, started a new game, and installed the update, but no 5000 coins. I'm a game dev myself, so I know how frustrating this can be for the developer, but dang. That 5k would have helped me recoup the many hours I spent in the game before my save was dumped.
I'm confused. I didn't have the no string bug before; now my town is gone, and I can't create a new one, due to crashing. It's cool that my town is gone now. Stuff happens. I really want to make sure that I get the 5000 gold though, so I can try to catch up to where I was. What steps should I take to fix the crash-on-creation bug? How do I "reset" without uninstalling the game? Edit: Bah, nevermind. I had a copy of the 1.0 version on my PC. Deleted the game from the iPad, reinstalled the old version, created a new town, and then updated.
