Hey Sorry if I offended you... didn't mean to, it was just this comment by Kaibosh a couple of pages back that made me think wtf:- "Where is the patch? This dev should be offering a free expansion as an apology for this insanity" ...really now? Yes I do play the game, and no I have not had the bug, but I can put myself in other players shoes. What's done is done and time can only go so fast. I guess it's just the age we live in that everything needs to be done NOW. Anyway that's enough of this discussion - sorry if anyone took it the wrong way
As a person who got to level 23 and no string, I am not mad at all. I agree with others that people are only mad because of how great this game is. People are not perfect and things happen. The people complaining I'm sure are all perfect and have never made a mistake or error in life. The issue is being addressed and fixed, which is all we can ask for. The game is $1, and you put in 30 hours and feel you got screwed over? Geez people have a twisted sense of value.
Hi there, I am level 22 and haven't had a problem yet Simply put, what should I do next? Wait until and update, or keep playing Thanks
Do yourself a favor and wait. And don't even launch the game. From what I understood all this will only help if you turn off iCloud backups because the bug seems to appear when the device is trying to backup the game. fingers crossed.
I can't even imagine how many people out there that don't read forums like this have been infurated with the bug. What I don't understand is that I've heard devs push through "critical" bugs quickly (like in a day) through Apple. To me, this makes the bug makes the game unplayable because of the risk of losing progress. That's a critical fix. I could probably go back and find threads of other games that also had game-breaking bugs but were fixed VERY quickly. So that's my only concern. Surely bugs like this should get through Apple over just regular updates to fix minor bugs or add content. I can understand the frustration of the dev and Chillingo as well, but have they really pushed Apple to speed up the process of approval? BTW, I looked back and it seems as though the fix was submitted on 8/23. Even ordinary fixes usually approved within 5-7 days. If this was truly "expedited", I guess I just don't get it.
It's not at all like a slap in the face. A slap in the face is intentional. When people make a mistake, that's not the same thing as a deliberate assault.
Hey If you're implying that we didn't submitted update yet it is simply not true. We did it as fast as we could. Now it's on Apple side. Dan can back me up with this and confirm. As far as we heard there is a lot of inquires on Appstore because of upcoming iOS6 in September. I'm checking updates list every 20 min. Believe me there is no one more happy than us when update finally shows up. Thanks Bartek
No problem. Guess Apple's just backed up with stuff. You've got a good game here so I guess I'm just anxious to get back to it.
Yes, exactly! iExplorer works well for this too. I'm not, never have been, and never will be jailbroken, but I use iExplorer all the time to more save files from iPhone to iPad and back again for games that don't use the cloud.
It's a little thing, but I wish the workers you hire in this game weren't so obviously gendered along the lines of "men's work" and "women's work". I like building up a community, but not participating in casual sexism. Still, great game.
So is Level 18 a good place to stop awaiting the bug fix patch to hit? Might have to use the time to stock up on things just via clicking on the buildings and waiting *brofist* Good game , bit high on memory usage. But then that could be due to my iPod touch only having 256 of memory
No one is defending the bug, but defending them for being human. Mistakes happen. Major companies that put thousands of hours into QA with professional teams still ship programs with game-breaking bugs. I understand it sucks to lose a bunch of progress, but I am really thankful that this developer and their publisher care about their work, have done a good job of communicating information to us as it has become available, and are determined to fix it as best they can. if they hadn't responded to the problem and made no move to fix it, we'd all have every right to be angry, but I believe they are doing their best and as a paying customer, that's what I want.
I got the no-string bug, and I don't use iCloud. For me it happened when I synced to iTunes via USB cable. So my recommendation is not to sync your phone at all until the update. Then when it comes out, download it directly to your phone instead of using iTunes to install it. Personally I'm playing the game again from the start again. Hopefully I'm not playing with fire...I probably won't have the willpower to start from the beginning a third time if my game gets re-wiped. Just got my fingers crossed that if I don't sync, I'll be safe.
Can you clarify this, please? Is iCloud turned off in your preferences? I don't recall anyone mentioning this occurring from syncing. If you are certain that is what happened, they need to know.
Wow i bought coins with real money, but it crashed. Tried it 3 times still no luck. The bad thing is apple sent me an invoice telling me i have bought in-app purchases for puzzle craft 3 times! What a load of crook!
I call it bad luck, and recommend players go cry moar. This isn't the first game it's happened to and it won't be the last, if you're anything more than a casual gamer you're going to experience it. It's always been this way. Nobody set out to deceive or steal from people, so get over yourselves and appreciate the fact they're helpful enough to fix the problem for you. You were never entitled to a completely flawless product in the first place.
So it's bad luck that savegames get wiped and not *gasp* a game-breaking bug? Wow. Just wow. I'm impressed.
I've just been hit by the dreaded 'no string' bug. Everything gone. I was on level 19. I don't think I have the heart to go back and start all over again. Game is going to be deleted and my potential 5 star review is now going to be a 1 star review. Before anyone attacks me for this let me explain. The developers are aware of this game breaking bug but there is no mention of it on iTunes and they continue to sell the game as if nothing is wrong with it. I know they have submitted an update to deal with this problem and are waiting for Apple to ok it. I really think they should have removed the game from the app store until it is fixed. They are knowingly selling a faulty game. And that is my main issue. It a pity really as it is a brilliant game.
Yes. That's exactly what it is. It's bad luck you happened to buy the game and also happened to get hit by the glitch. Welcome to gaming, this kind of thing isn't new. They've said they're working on it so quit the stuck up sense of self-entitlement already.
