somehow I missed the part in the game where it explained the rats, and cannot figure out their rules. Sometimes they have a countdown and sometimes not. And there are often too many to take care of with just a cat or two.
It isn't actually explained as such, just a line about putting a cat on it, anyway, once they get their countdown, the turn it goes to 0 they jump to a random crop and eat it. Usually not to big a deal at least, you can even match them normally if there's 3 of them next to each other. Only time I use cats is when I really don't want to lose a carrot.
My little community of Derpland has achieved village status, and I am up to level 10. I don't know how you guys are selling bread. I need all I can make to feed my miners (fertilizer certainly helps). I wouldn't sell ANYTHING to the market. You shouldn't need the money, and the wood is invaluable for rakes/shovels, the hay and dirt for fertilizer, etc. The interesting thing is that as you make advancements, things get more complicated. For instance, you guys mentioned the rats, but further along, wolves show up (presume they eat animals). This isn't an overly complex game, but they continue to add new wrinkles which helps to keep the gameplay from growing overly stale. There are always multiple goals to work toward, which is good. As already said, this should be a no-brainer purchase for fans of dungeon raid or wargames, and people that like puzzle games with a town-building element.
So, if someone gets burned and doesn't learn their lesson, they're an idiot. But if someone gets burned and exercises caution, they're "anal" and/or "paranoid"? Interesting logic. In any case, I think it boils down to customers simply taking the advice of the market voices. The "big wigs" have always suggested voting with your dollars, and that's what folks, I think, for the most part are trying to do. A buck is not a lot of money, even for someone who's broke, but your voice is priceless. If the only way to get your point across to publishers is to either throw money at their game or withhold it, that's what people do. I don't see that as anal or paranoid. I see that as simply asking for what you want. The schmucks are the ones who quietly take whatever is put in front of them.
I read this thread, then bought the game. Then played for a few hours. I was originally miffed by the idea that there might be a time-wall forcing you to wait before playing. That's not what I want in my paid games. The reality? This will not happen unless you're being really stupid or careless managing your resources. You can very easily make up the 30 gold you spend farming, plus more, especially as the game goes on. The tips posted earlier work well - buy cottages, and first get people who decrease the wood/wheat requirements until that's maxed. You can get a ton of lumber and bread then, and you only need to sell 6 to get your 30 coins back.
i thought i look at the comments on apps store and to my suprise 3 (thats what showing on UK app store not sure if thats share or not) its not had enough rating yet, very strange
I played quite a bit yesterday after work. It's hard to get your gold down to zero if you are just playing the matches to get your resources. However, once you use the gold to speed things up or buy stuff off the market, or you're trading through it selling one item to get gold to buy other stuff, it's easy to dwindle your funds. The exchange rate is a bit off in that market imho. I'm still about level 9. I've got three cottages and hires to ease lumber, bread and stone making. I don't really need to craft additional tools as the buildings I've got are providing those. Of this system that forces players to watch their gold spending: I don't think I'll be constantly frustrated by running out of gold and be unable to farm. I see what it's going for here. But personally I'm just not for systems that punish careless players by wait time. I also think it's rather counter to what developers should want for the players of their games, that is, to play their game.
Never judge a book by its cover or in this case it's IAP's. The added element of money management is a great addition to the game, something I would think a real farmer would go through in real life. If you love these sort of strategy RPG match 3 games you just have to get this. There is no reason to use IAP, unless you want to cheat that is... This is my game of the week for this week!
Finally picked up this game, only an hour in and loving it. It really reminds me of a good Euro (or designer) boardgame (ie. Puerto Rico or Agricola) where you want to do 12 things but you are only allowed to do 2. Someone earlier really nailed it and said that finally we have a real "game". I loved Tiny Tower and Pocket Planes and currently playing Happy Street, but when I think about it, there's no real way to lose at those games (I still play them). My only suggestion, if the Devs are looking at future games, that they could have added some sort of "morale" mechanism where if you run out of money, you can ask your people for their taxes early, but then there should be a consequence (like a hit towards your score at the end). Kairosoft and its sim games always loans you money if you fall below zero, there's another idea. Here's hoping there is a Puzzle Craft 2, or someone else jumps in and keeps expanding this genre.
If the developer of this game is still reading this thread, please help me with something. I bought the game about an hour ago and decided to buy the $1.99 in-app purchase of 2,500 coins. Well, I was charged but I never received my coins! All it does is say "connecting to server" and attempting to purchase again says "You've already purchased this in-app purchase but it hasn't been downloaded". I emailed iTunes, but I want my coins! This has never happened to me before and I've bought a lot on iTunes in the past year and a half. Please give me my coins!
Hey Guys We will be traveling from Gamescom back for the couple of hours. So we will get back to you on Saturday. AmethystAlicia Please send us details on [email protected]. We will try to figure out what happen. Rats, Wolfs They are randomly jumping all over the board. Counter shows you turn left before they eat you crop/animal. Earning money in game TIP: Spoiler if you hold your finger for 2 sec on EVERY of the tiles it tells you something useful. Happy hunting Cheers!
Thanks for the reply. I just sent an email explaining what happened. ETA: It seems I'm not the only one experiencing this IAP issue. There's a couple reviews in the app store for this game with others having the same problem.
I was really leery of the IAP but I'm so glad I picked this up. If other companies handled the implementation of IAP like this I wouldn't avoid games with IAP like the plague. Having a blast so far, a dollar well spent.
iPod Touch 5.0.1 Crash Don't any of you experience the game crashing upon start up? i've tried the game every which way possible but every time i try to start up it only get the Chillingo Ltd screen and the one after that then closes the app. Does this game take up that much ram? I've already tried to closing all apps ie holding it and pressing X but still crashes. I want to play this game so badly..
I've had the game exit a couple of times on my iPod 4th gen, but no problems on my iPad 3. It always starts up just fine on both though.
