That happens whenever you get a new quest tracking the same stat as one that's already active. I'm not sure if it's been fixed, but it's pretty rare and isn't really a problem, because to the best of my knowledge there aren't any difficult/time-consuming quests that can be affected by it.
Know the feeling, had that happen last update. Best thing to do is use the support email in options. Kepa sorted it out quite quickly from there for me.
Maybe the best bet is to have Kepa sort it out then pause playing till the permanent fix goes live? Coz xCombox said to have encountered the bug once more after sending an email and getting his stuff sorted out. That means less emails for the dev and more time they will have to sort the issue out.
Since I spent more than 20 bucks on this game and was afraid to use everything I spent my punchos on, I use iFunbox to backup (I play on ipad and iphone). I can't use Datadeposit (JB app that uploads your saves to dropbox) because this game doesn't use the Documents directory for saves, it uses the Preferences one iirc.
Gah. I'm not the only one. Not all my data was trashed, but enough that it dumped all my special move hats, all my punchos and all my excitement about playing the game I emailed support, but I'm stupidly sad about this. I really hope there's a solution.
To confirm yes it does happen randomly. Though I didn't lose everything, just some of my more recently purchased things, but most importantly, and most disappointing, is the loss of my ultra hats and punchos. Hundreds of thousands gone. I hope Kepa can help.
Crap. Crap crap crap. I have no quests, at all. I can't gain any more, gnomes is back to level 1, and even after killing myself multiple times, I still get no quests. Flargh.
I had a partial reset the other day the first time I tried to manually use the Cloud Sync option (just to see what it would do, I did not need to recover anything). Soon as I hit it, it said I had 1 item to sync, which was odd since I had never uninstalled/restored from earlier backup since playing it. Then when I exited out all my settings were reset along with my Gnomey levels/quests and idols. Hats were still there. After that clicking Cloud Sync just says there is 0 items to sync, and doesnt do anything bad.
I wonder what this mysterious item that iCloud thinks exists is, and if it has anything to do with the reset bug. Someone else said they got the same message just before their data got wiped. I also got the "1 item to sync" message, but this was several updates ago (presumably before the bug was introduced) and I haven't been affected.
Restart the game, the quests should come back. Also, use the email support button, if you haven't already. Can send you coins. We're spending today on this problem.
I'm on an iPad 1, so obviously not using iOS 6, and haven't experienced any of the problems that have been reported by other users (except for the ultra hat/addiction achievements not being awarded in GC). Not sure if that helps at all, but figured I would mention it.
Have added a redundancy system for the save data, as well as ultrahat iCloud sync. Further testing and hacking tomorrow and then likely submission.
this game and the economy it has is incredibly similar to team fortress 2. you have a main game action, where you receive a currency that can be used to purchase upgrades that alter gameplay and this is the main aim of the game, andthere is an underlying aesthetic aspect of the game where you use this currency to purchase fun items that dont alter gameplay but still satisfy the customer. i think the reason that the devs are having issue with funding (not sure if there are still issues, i havent hit the end of the thread yet) is because the IAP only apply to the aesthetic aspect of the game. im not saying that you should make a DLC package, or have core gameplay aspects as an IAP, but there needs to be some way to keep gameplay fresh, in case you a) arent going for high scores b) play casually c) have everything unlocked etc. etc. etc. im not a dev though and i know very very little about iOS dev and monetisation so you can probably put all this dumb critique aside but i do love this game, a lot. it combines a passionite love for hats, bred into me by valve, and fun arcade punch action. it doesnt feel to me like a endless runner. youre constantly making decisions about your path, trying to avoid monsters, punch monsters and wreak general havoc without too much concern for the score. ive never had any avid interest in an iphone game, and this game got me to make an account simply to post about it, so it has to be good. the moment i get paid next week im definitely going to buy the doubler and send a buck your way
my set up currently is hungry man, power slam and shodukin'. hungry man is great because it gives you an alert for upcoming food, increasing survivability (ancestral) damage output (power) and run duration/score/combo (mutagenic). power slam helps with combos between monsters because you dont have to be too accurate with your torch slams and it really helps out with air+ground damage output shodukin' counters death hand wraiths and shielded orcs very well, plus its just an all round great power up. usually hit 14-18 every game with this but its really personal preference EDIT: didnt realise this was a few pages back, whoops. may as well keep my set up here anyway, i assume people like discussing skill choices
I love this game. Never thought I'd spend more on this 15 meg gem (about USD 30) than a 2-gig game like TWEWY. I hope there's a sequel or a big update (I know it may be wishful thinking) so I root for this game to succeed. Even though I spent quite a lot of money on PQ, most of it was on cosmetic items and not necessary for my progress (except the coin doubler which I buy in every game I really like). It's sad to see that the top grossing games are things like CSR Racing and Clash of Clans. While those are quality games, they are the 'pay to play or wait X hours' kind which is an irksome model.
Haha, you guys changed the app icon title from 'punchquest' to 'PunchQuest.' Very good. This makes me happy It's the little details that count.
