I feel like this is a pretty good solution to the apparently commonplace "oh no, I'm drowning in punchos". The downside is that gems are a really boring-sounding currency compared to punchos. Can... can we get something more fun? Gnome statues? Beards?
Add random gnome statues with the same random weighing as the statues in the game already that when you smash, you get a beard. Oooh, THAT I would get behind. Gnome beards. Or at least hats. Make a spin that the gnomeys are collecting hats from their evil rival gnomes, or something like that.
I'm slighty wary of the idea of a consumable coin doubler. But I'd also be fine just never using it, so I guess it balances out. The addition of a second currency system is one I can definitely understand, but I think in the long run I'd rather spend the $4 on a hat pack and leave the rest to my patience, rather than getting pulled into a potential money sink when it comes to obtaining ultra hats, pets or whatever else. I want this game and the devs to succeed, because they are awesome, but my iOS budget only stretches so far at the end of the day.
Hi I'm a little late into the discussion but what is feel is although the upgrades are cheap. Rerolling the hats are not. And I supposed that is what most of the pple are aiming for. As of now after 10+ hr into the game, I could only rerolled twice. That said, the current iap are not attractive at all. The cheapest is $2.99 for 20000 punchos? I did make a $2.99 purchase just to support the game but the way I see it... The only useful buy is at $19.99 and that's a lot for me. Most pple who r interested in iap would look at the list, make some calculations, and realise it's not worth it. Unless they r willing to fork out $19.99. If the devs could add say a $0.99 for a rerolling of ultra hats, maybe a guaranteed one with infusion of power, I'm quite sure people would be digging it. We could at least get some opinions here. So maybe it's just me but I'm struggling to get enough punchos to reroll my hats. It's not cheap and definitely time consuming. I'm just afraid by adding stuff like gems and making it more difficult to get ultra hats or to reroll the hats would put pple off. I have read from several other forums that pple r now holding off buying iap to see what will the nx update turn the game into. It's easy to comment now when the game is already out but I feel that making this game free and adapting the freemium model is wrong from the start. This game is more "hardcore" compared to more casual games like jetpack joyride or other freemium games and therefore pple playing and enjoying punchquest r from a diff crowd who might not be used to buying iap. They might even despise iap in games. So I think if the devs were to add more freemium elements into the game they might chase away some of the current players. Anyway we can only only and see how things turn out.
I gotta agree. Really turned off by the ultra hat system being made harder. That and the IAP is a little off. I bought two coin packs, and I was only able to max out my passive upgrades (keys, ultra stuff, rereoll ability.) Didn't feel like it went very far.
While this is cool, and I've been waiting for non consumable IAP, might I suggest something other then hats, like say face/body modifications? Ultimately the hat slot for everyone will be filled with a Hat of Legend, considering the free extra Power is to good to pass up. Normally I loved buying hats in the Hook games, but with Ultra hats and Hats of Legend I really haven't felt inclined to spend a lot on hats so far. Alternatively, the Ultra Hats could only roll their look from hats people own to not make them pointless, or even have some form of buyable look change, giving you the look that you want, and just having the additional graphical effects Ultra Hats have stick.
Another good reason to donate a dollar (Coin Doubler IAP -cough cough-)... Ill pay one for a hat with power
just some thoughts about this game and game community. it's amazing to hear all these "too many punchos", "i want to unlock everything by myself" and progress the story or game. so the question is - why the f it's so important? and why people can not appreciate the core gameplay and the main aim of this game, highscores? i would say this game would be so huge on arcades or consoles some time back. lets say it's not endless runner but have something like 5 minutes mark. people would marry arcades and consoles. and i am not talking about graphics, just about gameplay. and now what we see, oh i unlock next skill, or next hat. cool, what about beating your highscore or climbing up on gc leaderboard. it makes more sense because you can unlock everything without any skills, what is so fun about that? and this happens with all games on ios. people are willing to grind, to play krpg, play all these freemium sim games on ios or to unlock useless upgrades but do not care about the important part of the gaming. a bit strange to see how the game with all iap becomes as expensive as full featured games on pc. but well, there are ios games where i spend much more on iaps so there will be people who will buy this game for all of us too. but well, it's appstore so i understand it's hard to sell something. now about the game, i played more and the uppercut button becomes really unresponsive if you press punch button a lot especially at later stages. maybe it has something to do with relaxation time after landing a punch. so maybe it's gameplay stuff and not a bug or something like that. so i see other people do not like bees level too, yeah i try to skip this level too even if these are free points.
I will not buy one shot IAP, so the one shot coin doubler is not to my liking. I'd rather have the permanent coin doubler that doesn't double mission coins. I am not sure if I'd pay $5 for hats. Why not a lower priced option?
I started adding in some content. I'd like to help you. I created some pages as well but I am not that great with the interface.
When I got to that link, I just get a mostly blank entry, aside from the title and a single sentence about who published it and when it was released. ???
Well, if you want to support the developers, you can always just pay a bit of money via the IAP system, and treat it like a purchase of the app.
I freakin' love this game. Can't stop playing. I earned my first hat from the gnome, top hat with little glowy spiders floating off of it. Now I have a quest to smash 40 rocks, but I have no idea what this means. Haven't seen any rocks to smash yet. This is by far the best endless runner I've ever played. I guess just the style of it is what makes it my favorite one. Haven't checked out the IAP yet, but I'll definitely throw at least a few bucks to the developers, because this game is absolutely worth it.
Hey Wizard_Mike! You can smash rocks either in the DINOPOCALYPSE stage (the glowing lava rocks) or if you unlock the ROCKFALL KEY upgrade. And thanks. :>
In the end, no one has any right to complain about IAP unless it directly effects your score, or forces you to do unnecessary grinding. After all, this is a leaderboard climbing game. Just put in a coin doubler for two/three bucks and make sure you can't buy your way to the leaderboards and it's all good. Still if you do a sequel just charge for the dang thing.
I don't know if there needs to be a sequel - I'd rather see what else they could come up with, rather than a Punch Quest 2. This game will give the 2nd project a boost. One good game out there is bound to help out your next game. Make that one paid and hopefully you'll see sales since everybody knows you folks are talented as a result of PQ.
Rollover where it says "PunchQuest Content" and there are dropdown menus that are going to be filled in with content eventually. I added the skills today. I'll look up the prices and add them in as well. Sirdarkened will be adding stuff too. He's the admin.
Yeah, I am pretty good with the formatting, I've got it down since Mage Gauntlet. I'll edit some more of the page day after day, as long as you put the right info I can always fix the format. Pictures are probably the main thing that I would like added as that takes the most amount of time (taking, uploading, then placing it). Thanks for your help though. I don't mind the dual currency system as long as it means future content. ~Also if you cannot figure out that at the top there is a bar where all of the pages are located then I cannot help you.
We need to do an emergency fix update anyway, since people are losing their Ultrahats sometimes. Will try a couple things in that update, before going right into the dual currency system and pets update. If it turns things around for us, we won't need to do gems (which is actually a lot of work on our part) Here's what will be in there (WE THINK): - Better save support, trying to prevent people getting a great ultrahat and then losing it. This is a pretty huge deal to us. - BUY COINS button more visible, says BUY COINS instead of GET. Shakes and flashes if you're looking at stuff you can't afford. - 99 cents GRAB BAG option. Get a random exclusive hat, hairstyle, or a Power I "More Coins" skill that increases enemy/chest/bag coin drops by about double. - Thinking about tweaking the coin bag prices to be more generous... in exchange, we're making the Madgarden and Rocketcat hats harder to get (grab bag only). Not sure yet on this one, but heads up. - A bunch of bug fixes and requests. Some other stuff I might be forgetting.
