Just want to ask a quick question...Am I supposed to not know what the hell is going on? I assume the bar on the bottom charges up move 1, 2, than the super; but...suddenly I'm a Gnome. Or riding a dinosaur. All sorts of bizzare text is flashing at me. Idols, bees nests, outta the blue. Am I dumb? Should I be scared? Can someone hold me?
Punch Quest is, to me, one of those rare free games where the content is so massive, the polish is so immaculate and the effort expended to make the game so good is so easy to see, that I have no issue whatsoever with giving the devs some money for it. Especially since I'll likely spend *at least* as much time with Punch Quest as I do with a game I spent $3 on (like Battleheart), so I have no excuse for not giving Rocketcat and Madgarden $2, at a minimum. I see it a lot more like a tip jar than anything else, honestly. And if you're worried about the IAP coins messing with the progression of the game, just spend them on some badass hats and leave the core of the game to be bought with your hard-earned coins instead.
I completely agree. This is the first time I have encountered a free game that is so badass that I feel compelled to invest money in it. Usually I invest the money and hope that the game is worthwhile. This week I spent $10 on games, for example, and Punch Quest turned out to be the best of the lot.
LOL Madgarden, now I see why (or at least one of the reasons why) SoF2 has been on the backburner. You and Rocketcat outdid ourselves on this one. Awesome game!
Yeah great job guys. This game is absolutely fantastic! Would Definately like to see a coin doubler like in JJ. I would easily purchase that and be more inclined to invest more money Like others have been saying, I feel compelled to support the Devs for this excellent freemium game. Guys, u represent the good side of freemium games and reasonable IAP without it being intrusive. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Every time I make a run, it says my previous score was zero. Is this a known issue? Also, It won't seem to download scores when I hit the button. I dunno if this has anything to do with staying on ios 5.1.1, since I know Gamecenter changed a bit. Sorry for not reading through the thread first, but I can never keep up with what's up for the new releases. By the tome I get to the thread, there are hundreds of comments, and I'm reading on my phone.
Posted the first round of reviews to the Rocketcat Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/rocketcatgames/ I didn't mean "don't post reviews at all", I was just collecting all reviews I read to put into a post. And yeah submitted an update last week, before the game came out. Here's a SNEAK PEEK changelog: - Change to the speed system: Mashing dashing punch now makes you faster. Blocking or jumping sets you to a jogging speed, if you don't dash punch. [Right now, to hit max speed, you have to either not punch or do careful dashing punches. Changing this.. I was actually hoping this would hit closer to release, people might be too used to the current method now?] - Gnomey is easier to level now, during his earlier ascensions [Level 50 for first ascension, then 60, up to 100 for the sixth and up] - Story cutscene! Just wait for 10 seconds on the main title. - iCloud save backups, if iCloud is enabled. There's a button in settings to sync up your save. Does not support coins or consumables. - Powers you get when hallucinating improved [You no longer get powers that are terrible to fight hallucinations with] - Store checks refresh if you leave the Get Punchos section and go back in. - More small tweaks [Various ones, off the top of my head it displays Gnomey's max level now]
Finally gave the game a go. The controls couldn't be better. There is no way another "runner" will ever have the content or customization options available in Punch Quest. Everything is very fairly priced as well. In my opinion, this is the perfect iOS game. Without a doubt, this will be getting a glowing review stamped with a 5-star rating in the very near future from TA. Since Hook Champ, all I can say after each game by RCG that I try is "wow." These guys simply just understand what it means and takes to develop great games for the platform. Edit: One last thing..there are literally no other games that can be played in both landscape and portrait mode. Simply amazing.
Generally, get a power-up while under the effects of a Super Attack. I think there's another way to get it, but I'm not quite sure.
First off this game is amazing. Knew it would be but it's even better than I thought. How much do I need to spend to unlock the Rocketcat Special? Spent 1.99 on 20,000 punchos to donate some money to you guys and unlocked the Madgarden Special. Love that you don't try to extort money from your consumers like so many other "free" games. *cough* gameloft *cough* Also would second a coin doubler if you guys dont think it would ruin the game. Thanks for the free game and keep up the fantastic work.
Outstanding reviews pours in, from AppSpy to 148apps and they all agree: 5 stars material. Outstanding. And those sites I trust From 148apps: 5 out of 5 From AppSpy: 5 out of 5
PocketGamer did a Tips and Strategies article for this game, showing some interesting combinations as well, in case you missed it, here they are: SOURCE, Mark Brown (author)
