So I just take a look at Punch Quest on the App Store out of boredom and I notice that the puncho doubler has been increased to $5. The game sure is great, but isn't $5 a bit pushing it? The game is still quite grindy after one has purchased the doubler, something I wouldn't be expecting from a $5 IAP.
Agreed. Looked at this game the other day and was going to throw a buck or two for the doubler but when I saw 5$, I had to laugh. Sorry they didn't make enough money at start but this is crazy if you ask me. Don't make me pay for your mistakes... $5 for a doubler is out of whack with the app store economics today.
Is this correct? If so they must have also increased it because I remember when I purchased it a long time ago, it was 1$
It's only overpriced to those not willing to buy it. Come on, $5 is reasonable if you love the game. Other than that I have nothing more to say about it.
Me neither. I wish you luck with recouping your costs and making the game financially viable/successful.
Just checked, aw man this is a thing now? Coin doubler costing more than $3 But you know what happened after I had checked the doubler? I ended up playing JJ in 1 hour and a half. Guess it's a reasonable price tag when the game is indeed awesome. Like JJ. And Punch Quest
I used to blow $20 at the arcade playing Street Fighter 2, after riding my motorcycle for 45 minutes to the mall in another town, the only place I could play it.
I used to ride my skateboard 5 minutes down the road every other Saturday morning to the local convenience store and play Double Dragon II start to finish for 20c. I purchased the doubler when I first got Punch Quest and recently spent weeks grinding in Spartan mode to earn 1,000,000 Punchos and get the last couple of Ultra Belts. Is the doubler worth it for $5? Well hell yes if you plan on spending any serious amount of time playing the game! Even with the doubler however it's a serious grind to get anything of relevance purchased and that last grinding effort of mine burnt me out.
Hey pal I used to bike for an hour to the arcade at the other side of town and play Double Dragon 1 from start to finish for 25c. And even before that I'd scrounge up 25 pennies and bike for 1/2 hour to the arcade in the middle of town and exchange them for just one token to play Karate Champ for about 2 minutes.
I just got an iPhone 5 and it won't let me re-download Punch Quest even though I can see it in the App Store. Something screwy is going on...
From the Rocketcat Twitter feed: "@rocketcatgames: Woops didn't get any "renew your App store developer program" emails, somehow. Renewed it but our games aren't available until it kicks in."
Mind if I ask what you and the Rocketcat guys are working on? Any chances for more juice to PQ or you have moved on to new projects?
Working on Death Road to Canada right now, will try to squeeze in a small PQ update shortly though to address some iOS7 issues. Hoping to do more with PQ in the new year, possibly a spinoff/sequel.
