I recommend discocut. In my opinion, it is one of the most useful skills. Unless you get an ultra hat with a desireable skill (and even maybe if you do), you may find a guaranteed discocut more useful.

The game really does have a learning curve. Except to get more punchos per run once you figure out your best combo of skills and learn how to deal with each enemy. Shoot to complete the quests for punchos, too. To me, the most useful skills are dull pain, hungry man, discocut/dunk, power slam, thunderpunch, and knuckle circle.

By the by, agree with the other guy that asking for hitbox info is too much. That's something players should find out on our own, and if anyone would like to get a discussion started, I'm all ears.

If anyone would like to share their strategy on dealing with exploding brown zombies, I'm also all ears. They're pretty much the only thing I can't avoid reliably. My current strategy (gnome gives this one away) is uppercut and immediately straight punch which knocks them back and leaves you out of blast range, but open to hear others.

When there are a lot of them i simply jump over them maybe hit the first one, one time but no more. You're only going to lose health when you try to get them all.

Have you tried Discocut/dunk-ing through their explosions? Or Bam Grief, or Air Wolf, or Shadow Step. All of those will skirt the explosion damage if timed properly.

Ok, I must say it: in current state the game is just boring grinder. Even with doubler I get about 800 punchos in one session, and can't imagine that I will spend about 10 hours to get anoher ultra item. And i will not since there is nothing interesting to do left in the game. GL with your next project, don't mess it up on start.

I try to avoid them at all costs. If they don't recieve damage they won't start their timers.

That's pretty much the other part of my current strategy. :) In the all-zombie path, I sadly just jump everything, unless I have a thundergodz active.

Huh, I actually have tried that but thought disco wasn't immune to those explosions. I apparently need to improve my timing. My next purchase target is a discodunk belt, which I'm hoping when paired with discocut will allow a little bit longer invulnerability window. I'll be sure to go back and try it then.

About the other skills, and this is just my opinion, the ability to block is too important to sacrifice. I do use block for timing here and there and for the occasional damage avoid. Particularly though, when I play for score, I take the boss paths, and going up against the bosses without ability to immediately block results in too much life loss. :/ I really like the variety of useable-type skills though.

Though I won't quote the other guy, I disagree that the game feels too grindy. I find it fun, and I don't mind having high value targets to shoot for.

I agree with you the game isn't a grind because it stays fun however that is what we think and we are probably half-addicted to the game and a minority. I can understand that it feels like a grind for those who play the game once in a while, they average about 200-400 punchos per game and when they see those high prices (150k for a hat, and 200 to 500k for a belt) i can understand them when they think #### this shit i'm going to play angry birds getting everything 3-star rating is less time consuming and more fun than trying to collect all this crap. What they don't take in account is that eventually they'll get better and maybe like the game more and the ultrahat could help him reach new highscores. I think the game could benefit from some kind of help section where the basics are taught, What are master foas? Where do i find rocks? What does an ultra hat have more than the regular ones? That sort of stuff. Informing people is one of the keys to success, it keeps them interested. First time i played this game i had lots of questions, i read the entire thread but not everyone has time to do that..

I have to say that I stopped playing when I saw that I needed 200,000 punchos to buy tier-1 things when I got 400-600 punchos per run with the coin doubler. And I bought all skills and upgrades...I love this game and have it on my Top5 Endless Runners list, but just felt grindy.

I get about 3000-4000 punchos per run. Brown zombies, just discocut right before they explode. The main things which make me lose life are invisible ninja blue bats suddenly dropping down from the sky, combos with a spike wall in front and awkward thing above the wall, and some combinations of spike ground and spiked shield orcs.

Usually get around 400k points per run, highest was 750k. I expect to get at least 1.2m as soon as I manage to roll a useful ultra hat. Although it is harder now with the addition of goaticorn egg.

:( being able to see hitboxes adds a lot of depth to gameplay spacing-wise. Look at the entire fighting game community.

But if you guys don't want to *kanye shrug*

As for the guy who gets 3-4k a run what level do you get up to? I'm usually gettin 1200-1500 dying around level 22-26

Haha I am too mook. SF is what got me into knowing about frame data and hitboxes. Now I always wonder about that stuff in every fighter-like game.

Well I used to play Guilty Gear, so I'm also interested in such info (though GG is more about quick button pressing and making sick aerial combos). However Punch Quest is more like beat 'em up + endless runner. It's also much simpler, so I think it's rather better to play the game up straight :)

That's exactly the thing that keeps me a going.
When I see something I like, I MUST have it, and there ain't no damn zombie that'll stop me from getting it.

Oh yeah, how are the new characters? Last time people suggested baby, sumo, old man, robot... and Madgarden decided to go with a robot right?

I agree that the belt prices are a bit ridiculous. If you intend to keep them that way, at the very least make the gnomey ascension reward more meaningful. 100k seems like a more reasonable reward, considering the previous reward was an ultra-hat which now costs 150k.
I still enjoy the game, but the amount required to get a few belts is pretty damn discouraging.

I think that they put this high price to make the fun last longer, the problem is that now we have a lot of things to buy and the money cant afford everything, I play this game since 1.0, I got all the skills when the expensive one was 10k, now Its hard to get the belts and hats even with 2x money. I think gnomey should give 50k and 100k for punchos doublers.
I think they want to make this game like an rpg, that you need to play alot to get stronger.
