Oh wow. Well, thank you for putting me out of my misery. I was starting to think the game was broken.
No problem. On the plus side, the ultra hats now always come equipped with a tier 1 skill, whereas they required at least one hat reroll to get a skill when a gnome gave it to you.
Haha, now that I think about it, "help me out and get a hat" is indeed a bit misleading now. Hey Madgarden, I think you guy should totally add some sort of a "wardrobe" section in Customization. I have a LOT of favourite getups, but end up having to take snapshots of them to remember because my new high scores just keep pushing the old ones away. I swear, I love them so much, I even build an Punch Chronicle universe inside my head, completed with real life reference, guest character, whacky names, races, ranks for the characters wearing those prefered getups of mine. Hell I'm figuring out the story now. So basically what I'm saying is, players should probably have the right to own a fashion collection for themselves after spending heaps of punchos on those headwears right?
I went for Spartan Mode and I am quite enjoying it thus far. It plays way differently from the initial mode you have, and it still contributes to your gnome's level so you can switch between the two modes as you please. To me, the debate of Ultra Hat vs. Spartan Mode is answered on whether you want something random that you could either be immensely satisfied with or have to reroll (which costs even more Punchos!) to be happy with or a guaranteed one time cost for something interesting and different.
I say go for an Ultra Hat. One additional Skill would help you play better and gain more Punchos, then you'll be able to unlock Spartan mode in no time.
You can smash them in the 'Falling Rocks' (or something like that) path that you must buy as an upgrade (IIRC), or when you get the dinosaur egg you can blast the 'meteors' that appear, they count too.
All the area keys are unlocked from the start now, though the falling rocks area is extremely rare. The easiest way to smash 25 rocks is to watch out for egg paths and follow every single one you find. You have about a 1/3 chance of getting a laseraptor egg, which, as was said, also counts when you shoots the meteors.
oh, so THOSE are meteors. I thought they're just some rocks from the sky guess the whole velociraptor shooting laser beam at floating triceratop head just put my common sense to sleep
I love you Kepa and Madgarden ;-; So I'd love if Kepa or Madgarden could put up a video of the hitboxes and hurtboxes. If you guys have like a debug mode or something and can just show a gameplay video of hitboxes in green and hurtboxes in red or something like that, it'd be really awesome.
Hey guys, I got a question about the new GOATICORN path. Question: Why is this path so bad? I mean in terms of scoring, not in terms of awesome. It's just so bad! You can't build a combo, so you can never get significant amount of points!
Really? I was concerned that it might be too easy to build up your BUST count. Did you know you can also butt the larries when you jump?
I think it's harder to score points because its probably the hardest egg level, what with all those spike pits and all.. Makes you think twice about every jump. Maybe tone the amount down, or zoom it out somehow?
Yeah, you can hit the fairies with the jump. But that doesn't do much. In laseraptor I can score maybe 40-60k points in a good run, and 20-30k from bust bonus. You can get combos from hitting the heads and the rocks, which gives score. Gnome is around 20-30k points and 15-20k from bust. Towards the end of gnome you can get combos with an avalanche of hives and bees. But there is no similar thing in this one. You can get maybe a single digit combo, then you have to jump over a pit. And you can't be too aggressive with the fairies because you only get a doublejump and doubledash before you have to land. Goaticorn is ok for punchos, but not good at all for score, and the difference between it and the other two eggs is really noticeable. I really hope that with improved skill that I couldn't get, for example, a 100-200 bust in goaticorn. That would be excruciatingly boring.
I agree that the Goaticorn egg could use some work with regards to how many fairies there are. You can get a decent bust count once you figure out the timing of the spikes, but it's hard to keep a punch streak going since there aren't too many fairies compared to the amount of hives and bees in the Gnomey egg.
