Oil I am in a stage where I have to jump from a moving platform to someone that looks like a drum. The only way is t use a double jump ... But no matter wha I do the double jumps gets aborted in mid air. I tried even a single jump. No difference. Is this normal and I am not understanding the stage or the is a bug. Regarding the controls, I hate th sipes and the lad are just ok. I wish I could move them. For the rest fun game, even if I am now stuck at this place.
AppSpy's review is spot-on. Their crediting of Konami as "didn't do too bad a job" is a facepalm moment though. I really hate it when developers don't get their proper due.
Now that I finished ... I really liked it. I think the controls suffer from not being phisical ... Thus I would love to play this again on an icade! Only thing is that cut scenes and achievements do nit autorotate. Now waiting for your next game!
I really didn't like this game very much. It's easy to see the level of development polish this title received, but the gameplay falls flat in my opinion. Attempting to finish a level is tedious and simply collecting flies feels boring and unrewarding. Multiplayer, power-ups, faster varied gameplay or any kind of flare would've made this a nice reunion, but I'd have to advise people to pass on this one. I regret making this purchase for $2, but at least I supported good developers who simply were'nt on their A-games for this title. Maybe next time fellas.
I disagree. Releasing a new game when the original is a classic video game legend is very tricky. Difficult to please everyone Think it should please the retro purists as it has a big hint of old skool speccially with the controls but also a whiff of '2011'. Considering it's only $2 it's a very good game once you get used to the jumps Really enjoying playing it. Hope we see more
To me it has the arcade style of the original but with more variety and lovely art. I could not care less of multiplayer, gives nothing here, or other stuff. Thus game is an arcade and it's only fault us that is infinite lives! And btw there are power up and variety of actions especially in the last five levels.
Psj3809 (if that really is your name ) you said it all right there! Updating a classic is not as simple as some people may think. There are many more restrictions than when we do a wholly new title which I our own IP. While it'd be all to easy to go crazy with far out new gameplay elements it's much harder (and more senisible) to ensure the game "feels" like the original. We've done this a few times now enhancing Karate Champ, Cobra Command, Road Blaster and now Frogger, so i like to think we know a thing or 3 about retro! Respecting the legacy while giving it a bit of a tweak to make appropriate use of today's technology was the order of the day. Creating the next massively multiplayer Modern Warfare Angry Birds crushing crossover is tomorrows
Frogger Decades is my favorite Frogger game besides the original. All of the other sequels and other Frogger related crap that's come out over the last 30 years has really either not held my attention, been pretty much a clone, or WAAAAY too far away in gameplay to even have the name Frogger attached to it... and always seemed like just a game that was made to make money off of the Frogger name. But with Decades... it's VERY clear that you guys handled this with immense care and respect. The controls, graphics, gameplay, the feel of the whole game... everything is just perfect. I was a little iffy about it because of all the failed attempts at Frogger games over the years, but really, you guys nailed it, and saying thank you just isn't enough. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you've done with this game, and you've definitely nabbed a fan for as long as you keep making games. =oD **edit** HOLY CRAP THIS IS MY 4,000TH POST!! =oD WOOHOO GO ME!
To be fair, Frogger Decades is a much more ambitious retro remake than any of your other ones. I'd say it's even more ambitious than your previous "traffic dodging" game, Banzai Rabbit.
Thanks for the compliments guys. If you haven't already I heartily recommend you try our other recent release Gesundheit! - also published by Konami. 5/5 from TouchArcade and a 9.5/10 by IGN, and if any more incentive is needed we just released a free lite version which gives a good sampling of the full game on iPad/iPhone. Enjoy!
I'll be picking this up tonight. I really hope you do come through with the iCade support (sooner rather than later ), a game like this is just perfect for physical controls. Great stuff on the reviews, well done.
Has anyone got the "Magic Fingers" achievement to unlock? Seems pretty simple from the description, but can't figure this one out. Funny thing, it does show as unlocked in Openfeint for me, but not in Gamecenter.
OK, I can confirm that "Magic Fingers" is glitched in Gamecenter. Don't ask how I know. but the issue is that there are extra white characters at the end of the "Magic Fingers" ID you're sending to Gamecenter. It's a pretty easy fix, but it won't unlock in Gamecenter because the ID being sent is not what Gamecenter is expecting. Hopefully a developer is still purusing the forums and can fix this for others.
Update ready and on its way.. - Adds a brand new game mode upon beating the game - optional extra characters with new powers - tweaked controls - a lil something extra via the addition of the classic Konami code - and (drumroll)... iCade support (works great!) Will report back when available)
iCade support? Holy cow, having the iCade supported via a big-time dev can only mean good news for our favorite arcade cab. Many thanks devs, it's very appreciated and I do hope this leads to a few more sales for you (and for the iCade!).
Same for me... when iCade support will be available, I will buy it. Good news that more and more developpers are interesting about iCade. I love iCade... and also my children. I'm very glad to present them a nice classic game like Frogger Thanks to the developpers.
