The disappearance of all the annoying and silly gunner sections in iOS version is a definite plus! Ah yes, I once thought it were Issac who shot down that military vessel....
I'm on chapter 9 of this game and so far it's been a great expierence. I know that I get bored and quit out of games where you go through a campaign or story line (which is why I have a strong affection to multiplayer games) but I feel and know that this will be my third time finishing an ios campaign game (other two were nova 2 and modern combat 2). I admit at times I did get scared enough to jump out of my seat like on my train ride to Chicago when I was in chapter 2 where you go to a room with two locked doors and two dead bodies sitting up and above it was a sentance wrote from blood. When I came to it and when the slicer monster jumped at me I jumped from my seat and the people around me on the train were like wtf is wrong with this kid? lol
Lool! Yeah that happened to me too but when I was playing on hard, I just shoot first ask latter lol!
There's definitely a unique feel to playing premium games on the IOS devices, I hope more games of this caliber continue coming out on the app store.
I have to agree... as I'm sure almost EVERY person that's posted in this thread would... This is a totally immersive, graphically amazing game with GREAT gameplay, a creepy, VERY WELL DESIGNED atmosphere, and AMAZING control scheme. They could have EASILY charged $10-$12 for this game... IT'S THAT GOOD.
+1: Don't be so cheap and appreciate what EA has done by making such an awesome game for iOS. It really raises the bar, much higher than what Gameloft ever did as it's not only graphically stunning, but has perfect controls, great storyline and not just a cheap knock off of a popular game. If people only buy this game on sale, I doubt publishers would bother making console quality games for iOS anymore.
Although I agree that Dead Space is a great game with nice (not amazing) graphics, it is not superior to Gamelofts's recent release Sacred Odyssey. First of all before I get called some type of Fanboy let me say that I do enjoy both games. I have played through Dead Space 2x's on medium and 1 and 1/2 times on hard and though the graphics are quite nice it uses a lot of the same repetitive environments with minimal changes to make the area look different to make the game last a bit longer. The carnage could have been better , Blood and guts could have been more gory. The iphone (4) could have handled a little more details that I feel they didn't bother putting in only for older generation Idevices could run only to make a few more bucks. The way I would have done this release is an enhanced HD version for Iphone 4 /Ipad and a non HD version to support older models. Now on to Sacred Odyssey though I have not fully played through the entire game yet the game play is already promising to show more game time then Dead Space. (I may be wrong but I doubt that it's less) The boss Battle seem much more challenging then the 3 boss battles with 1 being a repeat of the first boss on Dead Space. So far with my 2 hours into Sacred Odyssey I have yet to feel I'm in an area that looks like a place I visited before , every place seems unique! There are other nice things about Sacred Odyssey that I feel that are better then Dead space on IOS and I am fully aware that they are 2 completely games But I don't agree that Dead Space is "much higher than what Gameloft ever did" I believe what Ea released was an Awesome step up , but I think It could have been much better and was much more hyped up by the Dead Space name and the Awe of playing on an IOS device then anything else. In saying that also Gamloft does need to step up their graphics as well, but so far they are doing a pretty well job balancing graphics, game play , length , replay value , fun factor, and price where a lot of games just can't compete (regardless that the concept of the game is a rip off of another, it still takes time to develop) This is my opinion though.
I personally think Sacred Odyssey is super hyped now as it's a quiet time with no great new games released around this time. It's the newest, coolest game but essentially just an alright game. Would've been different had it come out last december (remember that week when all the cool titles came out?). Don't get me wrong, I do like some Gameloft games and appreciate what they did for iOS by bringing games like NOVA, but most are just cheap knockoffs with cringe-worthy plot, dialogue and generic characters. They also have a very Gameloft colour palette, a bit too colourful and childish for my taste. Except a few titles, I find their games to be very shallow, maybe not in terms of content, but certainly in terms of experience. It's like watching the latest Hollywood movie with awesome visual effects, 3D, but in the end it's just a popcorn movie with no memorable character or story once we leave the cinema. But hey it's fine to have a different opinion! Not everyone must love Dead Space and not everyone must love Sacred Odyssey
Just finished in about 6 hours, but i don't know it the timer on the game works well, i think that the game is a bit longer of what the timer say... Very good game , sure i will replay it on hard difficult... and open the amazon page to order my dead space 2 copy
Really? I thought the opposite. The timer said it took me over 4 hours, but I'm pretty sure that's counting all the time I had it paused to respond to IM's.
Its on special here for $3.99 in Australia atm (under half price) Still not sure if I want to buy it though, I'm too used to the $1.19 luxuries <_<
The controls are absolutely terrible on the iPad. With absolutely no virtual buttons or anything, my character does the wrong action all the time. Sometimes he would aim instead of open doors (since both require a single tap), I have to reach my right index finger to swipe up on the left of the screen in order to go into running stance from an aiming stance (since my left index finger is holding the iPad, ie behind the iPad), and I have a hard time sliding my left thumb far enough for the character to run instead of walk. I have a feeling I could only play this thing when the iPad is placed on a table top and both my hands are dancing on the iPad screen. Is it that necessary for a completely HUD-less screen?? This isn't the keyboard with a computer screen, slide gestures are not 100% accurate FFS. Gameloft's shooters like Shadow Guardian are much better at this. They actually don't strain your hand after 20 minutes of gameplay. This might or might not apply to the iPhone version as I only have the iPad version.
I had no such problems playing on the iPad. I enjoyed it more actually because of the screen size--felt more like a PC game on the bigger screen. I played laying on the couch with the iPad on my belly for what it's worth. I appreciated being able to use my thumbs anywhere on the screen I wanted to, and I chose to control from the top of the screen. The only time I had to let go withy right hand was to pick up items/open doors.
