This was made for a mobile platform which a majority of the gamers dedicate there use for when they are on the move. Having a game like Arlon is great and all but it borderlines on a game that is to much for pick up and play sessions. This game was designed for that. Graphically this game is superior to Arlon is almost every aspect except for the scope of the levels. You may like the style of Arlon more but this game is far superior in its animation, lighting, and texture levels. Everyone is omg with this game becuase it has very high production levels, a story that was created by professional writers, and is essentially a lite version of a full console title that can be picked up and played on the go.
So Aralon, Rage or IB are better? seriously :/? I mean Aralon has sooooooooooooo many issues with controls, graphics that are all over the place, pop ups etc. Rage and IB graphics are good only beacuse of the limitations of the gameplay, making an "on rails" game is sooooooooooooo much easier for a developer than making a full game. Seriously Dead Space iPhone could have been sold on the DS or PSP for $25 or something, but they release it in the appstore. Maybe you just don like this types of games? everyone has its own taste (I for example download and deleted Real Racing 2 the same week i bought it, and prefered keep playing Asphalt 6 and NFS:hot Pursuit). Also the Dead Space franchise didnt influence in my way of thiking about the game, i have never played DS1 or 2. Man I just hope EA and other developers push the iOS platform as far as this game did it.
you did a couple posts ago, the fact is that DS has the highest production value on the appstore, certainly higher to aralon, IB or Rage.. you can not like it, its you opinion and its very respectable.
I just compared them on graphics term FYI. Always it's hard to disagree. You all are like OMG someone is wrong on the internet! Just chill and enjoy Dead Space please.
I can agree with Drakeer Melkhor. It's the most overrated game in the AppStore. I guess that most of the "wow", "cool", "I've been waiting for it" reviews in the AppStore - are EA's marketing efforts. They should spend their money on development instead of marketing. The toucharcade's first review was very close to what the reality is. The controls are horrible. Weapons switch mode by themselves. "Sliding" and "shaking" of my iPod 4G works 50/50. And in 50% cases when it doesn't work I just get killed. The corridors are repetitive - it's too boring. "Turn around by 180 degree" works in 20% for me. And the game crashes. It crashes every time I play - and the progress is not being saved. And what now? With all those bugs I got to the Chapter 11. Now I cannot save AT ALL. Save just doesn't work and if I get killed I have to start the chapter from scratch. (I'm not jailbroken and I don't use any Cydia hacks or anything like that. Pure iPod 4G I bought several days ago). Very disappointed. P.S. Yep. On the contrary, graphics is very cool. But too many bugs in there.
Nope. Dead Space you are so overrated on toucharcade forums OMG!!! A little more than 3 hours took me from start to end, with no hurry on doing things. There is an achievement to do it under 2 hours... Really short game.
!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! idk if any of you notice but vandal's last audio log can be found in Dead Space 2 in HER real voice
I think this was the developers way of trying to imitate the Metroid series (well, they imitate the Metroid in more ways than one here ). All of the classic Metroid games could be completed in under 2 hours, if you wished to speed run through them. I'm not sure about the Prime series or Other M, but all the 2D Metroids were designed that way.
@chukwuka13 Shoot the yellow spots when the monster raises its head. Does anyone know what the letters spelled out to be? First letters of each title in each chapter... I missed the first two chapters and starting the third in third playthrough.
I've been putting off the Dead Space series for the longest while, but yeah, I think I'm ready to jump in after this series. Is this better to play on the 360 or the PS3 (I have both)?
I can tell you that my enjoyment of the game has nothing to do with EA's marketing efforts. My enjoyment of the game is based on the fact that it is very well made, very fun, very well designed, and very immersive. It has great controls, nice level designs, good voicework, smooth animations, great graphics, an interesting story, a great setting, fun to battle enemies, enjoyable combat mechanics, smooth framerates, etc, etc. None of that has anything to do with EA's marketing. As for your crashes and glitches--it sounds like your experiences are abnormal and maybe shouldn't be used to judge what almost everyone has agreed is a very well polished game. In my house we have the game on a 4th gen touch, an iPad, a 3GS, and a 2G iPhone, and it runs great on all of them. The game has never crashed on my 4th gen touch or my iPad, and I've finished it on both. The game has crashed a couple times on the 2G, but the fact that it runs on the 2G at all is amazing, and for the most part it actually runs well on the 2G. It sounds like maybe you had a glitched install and should delete and reinstall it. From reading through the reviews on itunes, websites, and this thread, you have to realize your experience is not consistent with what other people have experienced. Even the people who haven't enjoyed the game haven't complained about crashes and bugs ruining it for them. I still stick with the assessment that it is by far the best, most complete, most uniformly good IOS game released to date. And not because EA's marketing told me to say that
WTF is with the voice acting? It's like being fast forwarded and squeaky. I have no idea what it's saying. And what exactly is the "in-game reward" from the registration of the game?
While I do think that is a drawback,I don't see how that makes the game overrated or bad. Spider man total mayhem was two hours. Yet it was critically acclaimed and was full price at 6.99 for months. Just like this game, it had enough replay value like different suits and difficulty levels etc. to justify it's praise and price. Hell, silent hill shattered memories was 4 hours and that was a great game, with a proper retail price. Long games don't work in the survival horror genre.
