Damn EA, I'm impressed. This game seems like it was build for the iPhone from the ground up. I just started playing but it looks like this will hold me over for a few weeks. Graphics are eye candy and the controls are comfortable. It's how I expect to play a FPS or 3rd person shooter an iDevice. update: It was all fun and games until I started playing alone in my apartment with my headphones.
Lol, you can't really compare them..unless this is getting online anytime soon, that's also very questionable. However, the single player and storyline are clearly superior. Dead Space is currently at number 50 xD. Not climbing as fast as IB did, but it's climbing alright.
I have to admit I am quite impressed. The game is so well polished I could probably see my reflection in it. I mean, there are so many achievements, you will want to replay the game because, as people have been asking, it does unlock a hard mode. The enemies aren't too scary but there are so many moments that just make you jump up in your seat. I'm really digging the storyline, it's simply captivating. And I really enjoyed the in game scenes, one where you enter a room, then you have this hallucination and you see bodies and blood everywhere, and then it disappears. Really an immersive experience. Or another time when you are wLking through the mines, and then you hallucinate and actually turn into a necromorph that you can actually control for a bit. The short version? 7 bucks well spent.
BEST IPHONE GAME! PERIOD! and even one of the best handheld games out there along games like MGS PW and GoW

On chapter 6 at the moment. Things are getting freaky(ier). It's now 3:40am and I need to stop. Got school in the morning. Started playing at about 11:15 or so... How many chapters are there?
Call me a wimp ! I just got my first weapon, I can't go on..-.-. I think I'll play this while my gf is with me..in the daytime. Playing in the dark alone with hd headphones is too much for me heh. I don't like scary stuff.. Done for the night... I like the controls and graphics and sound..Yeah I've been wandering around just examining the rooms for 30 minutes now. Just the way this guy walks scares me.

Genuine console quality gaming comes to iOS, and EA just redefined what a high end iOS game should be like. Sure, Infinity Blade looked great, but friends who didn't own iPhones but had heard of the game, mocked it after trying it. "All you do is swipe the screen"!? However, Dead Space (especially on the iPhone 4) looks and plays like a console game. Want to walk down that corridor? On you go. Don't? Ok, choose another route. I don't have an issue with on rail games as such, I love Rage HD despite the amount of complaints about it being on rails. Dead Space just blows every other high end game away. Great graphics, atmospheric sound, and comfortable (if not a little stiff) control system. Two words: Buy It.
dead space has got rating 18+ for pc/consoles, so it means, probably, iphone version should not be banned too and it is not on the list in Germany. so it looks like it is just EA NE desision.
