Nope. While you can stomp on enemies when they're missing their limbs you can't stomp them like you would do on the console version. Though that's one of the only differences with the "real" dead space (also the stomp sound isn't as brutal as the console one) the game really is more than amazing. The way a port from a console franchise to the ios platform should be done. Way to go Ea!
I played the first few chapters so far, and it's as good as I was hoping it would be. Once you get the hang of the controls, they aren't too bad. Graphics are top notch of course. I just reached the store, which is pretty awesome. You use nodes to upgrade your equipment, and the credits to buy new stuff. I was able to buy a new suit when I reached the store, and apply a few upgrades. All in all, I think it'd be fair for them to charge $20 for this, it's not the longest game out there, but it's Dead Space. On your cell phone.
To anyone that has this...how are the lighting effects and all that? (Reflections, shadows, etc...Can you tell if it uses OpenGL 2.0?)
F.A.Q., impressions iPhone or iPad? Which version should I get? Gyro controls? Is there any other upgradable suits?? Do you play as Isac in the game? IS IT ON RAILS? Does it work on first gen iPhone, ipod? How long is the game? Upgrade system, IAP?? Well it's retina display, the lighnting effects are some of the best on the platform. really amazing use of lights and shadows, creepy effects, dark corners...
I have dead space on my iphone 4 the lighting seems to be dynamic lighting not real time lighting (probly for lag reasons) when u walk to a dark spot your suit slowly turns dark, etc. There is no shadow but the back of your armor; the stasis module seems to reflect light, my guess is they either used opengl 1.1 or a toned down opengl 2.0 to make older gen compatibility better.
Germany (along with the rest of the europe) gets these NZ releases at 12 AM UK time and not when its 12 AM at their time
Oh all those details... usually I don´t sit on my desk before 9 am (Toyko) which is right now 1 am Germany. So I rarely noticed before
Two different genres. NOVA is a sci-fi First Person Shooter while Dead Space is a Horror / Sci-fi Third Person Shooter. Overall, both are great, but I liked Dead Space more.
Dead Space is not FPS, it's a combination of survival horror(emphasis on horror) and 3rd person shooter combined. Think Resident Evil with a more engaging story, unique memorable monsters that require different strategy to take out, and minor RPG elements with regards to upgrade paths and such.
Well not too much of a surprise, so they dumbed down the Kinesis in this one. Although I would have to guess it's more of a technical limitation (graphically) than having to do with controls.
