Thanks Sherlock. Don't care about the price, i just had enough other games to finish before. Guess i'll wait then and see if they will deliver an update to satisfy my wishes.
Actually even for someone who hasn't bought this yet, I agree this is too soon. I still have a backlog so I'm not buying this yet, but they should have at least waited until a Thanksgiving sale or the release of the new iPads.
I'm unfortunately gonna hold off on this one, I have a large backlog of games I need to finish since my phone upgrade from the iPhone 4. Even then, I have a large wishlist of lower prices games, and I'd rather have variety then the same game that I can probably get for 5$ cheaper at GameStop or any other retailer for Xbox 360. But the extra 5$ is worth it on mobile. I'm trying my best not to sound like a cheapskate...
Anyone tried this on the iPhone 6? Or any videos of the game running on it? I can't seem to find any YouTube
I've played it on the plus, seems to still be rendering at the same res as it does on the 5/5S so doesn't look amazing but certainly not as bad as some people are making out. Haven't run in to any performance issues yet though, so I imagine the regular 6 will handle the game just as well if not better.
Well,i think that The grainy pixelated look on iPhones, that bug,it's a grapchic option, not in The iOS version, but on pc,there was an option for "Horizontal FOV Lock" basically this setting keeps The Horizontal FOV at same value it would be on a 4:3 display regardless of The aspect ratio of The monitor being used, for 16:9 display this mean a more zoomed look,The iPhone version had this setting enable,"on"this it's why on iPad doesn't doesn't affect,it's not on 16:9,so,aliasing apart, this can be.One of The reason.. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8440/la-look-at-bioshock-for-ios
Field Of View just chopped off the visible area on each side of the screen if played in 4:3 aspect ratio. There really wasn't any zoom at all. Usually, a game handles this automatically but in BS you were able to set it manually. This feature isn't the reason for lowering the general resolution. I've read the article. As I thought, there wasn't anything related about FoV and resolution in the same context. But as I've already supossed earlier in this thread, the reviewer thinks it's due to heat which is a possible reason to lower the resolution on iPhones. If it gets too hot, it will automatically clocks down the processor speed and the game will become unplayable then. Just try it. First your backlight will be lowered, navigating through iOS becomes very laggy and then you'll get a heat warning. I had this countless times when playing O&C with connected charger on a 3G connection.
@Nekku:you're right, but, look carefully the 3 screen of "Horizontal FOV Lock"the first it's off,the second it's PC"on"the third it's iPhone "on"if you look the first one,it has lot of more visibility, you can see a part of it's arm,not only the hand,And the screenshot of the iPhone version,it's really zoomed, you can see the grainy also on the hand..i only say that with this "on"on iPhone,it's more zoomed..I prefer lot more have it like in first screenshot,"off"
This game has been released too fast..it's not optimized for iPhone and now it's difficult for 2k to release a fix for this! But for his price... 2k must release the update as fast as possible!
Fully agree, and not mention that it's the first of my hundreds of iOS games that after use 2 saves,it had 300Mb of data, really? 300mb for 2 saves? Really?come on!
Just bought it and I think it's pretty good. Not perfect but I'm liking it a lot on my air. Feels like I'm running it on a PC that needs some upgrades. Definitely playable though and quite amazing to play on a mobile device. Just don't go in with unrealistic expectations and you'll enjoy your time in rapture.
Just finished the campaign at just over 23 hours according to the game. Although not the best version of this classic, still playable, especially on my ipad air. With the exception of some control issues, had alot of fun going back to rapture one last time.
It's pure nostalgia. Sure it's ugly and pixelated, and more so on a 6+ but the game was magnificent and it's quite playable
No luck with resolution. I tried messing with the graphics settings and I think it looks better but not sure if my eyes just deceiving me. Copy the ini files into the appropriate folder using ifunbox or other app. http://wikisend.com/download/412866/BioshockConfig.zip
The ini files wont change anything at all cuz they were made for DirectX. You can clearly see that if you take a look into it and the best part of this is, I've deleted all of them even inside the game folder (where the binary is located in/device needs to be jailbroken to open this folder) itself and the game is still running perfectly fine, hah. There are many leftovers from the PC version. I bet the graphic settings are hardcoded into the binary. Oh, there are only iPhone assets so all pictures (mainly pngs) are upscaled on iPad.
so there is no way anybody with some knowledge of coding and UE3 that can change any setting, i'm on ipad air and i feel like i'm looking at sandpaper, i'm sure somebody can think of something.
