It's not a ram issue,Aliasing is gpu dependent nothing to do with ram same is the case with resolution. What the support guy said makes no sense at all, maybe this is how we'll have to play, low res here I come.I think I'll have to mail them myself now.
For those have problems, lags, etc. with the game open YouTube and see gameplay videos of Bioshock running on iphones and iPads. The game runs amazing.Maybe some people have jail broken devices or play the game with apps running on background.
I followed your advice and watched this video (should be from Sanuku): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6d2qNbHOSc4 You can easily see the stuttering and therefore low framerate on both devices. If not, I don't know what to tell you.
Tbh I also thought that YouTube videos always look smoother for laggy games and laggy for games with smooth framerate. The fps in the game is mostly 35+ and is very much playable with little slowdowns but nothing like DQ or IB3 it's still in 26-30fps region at the worst of it's times and is mostly playable but not so enjoyable. @nekku How does it run on your iPad Air mate, the res on my 5s is terrible sort of ps1 quality probably 320*420 or something. My sis has the iPad so I haven't had a chance to play it in that, how's the overall performance you reckon?
im futher in the game now, and the battles are harder Because of the stupid framerate probs and lags, JEEZ, UPDATE please!!!!!!!!
Framerate is decent I said(about 30fps) but graphics is horrible, a lot of aliasing and very pixelated! Maybe you are the only person who said that graphics is decent on iPhone 5s! Take a look to other fps on Appstore!
@Mamalovesyou: I'm playing on Mini Retina but that shouldnt make a huge difference compared to the Air I guess. There are framedrops in certain areas as well as when there is some fighting against many enemies at once going on, especially when I fight enemies in these mentioned areas. It is still playable at all imo but I'm not sure how long it will last considering the game gets more and more frantic. For an first person shooter, it doesn't feel natural at all. I think the devs already knew why they decided to lower the resolution. Ye, should be 320x480px on your 5S. At least, that is the resolution on my iPhone 5. It's unplayable on the 5 though.
The game is really decent, when not fighting!! It is almost unplayable in heavy battle. Im on a iPad 4 IOS 7.1.4
I'm talking about bad framerate due to 1GB of RAM in order to run The Game propely,so if only a notify or a message coming,it's a pain,And yes,no sense at all,Aliasing it's totally another thing, let's hope, after many costumers report to them same issue..
This may be completely pointless and nitpicking, but there's no way the resolution on your iPhone 5(s) would be 320 x 480, since that isn't a 16:9 resolution. It's more likely to be 320 x 568.
http://support.2k.com/hc/en-us/articles/203408763--iOS-BioShock-FAQ Doesnt seem like they're informed. Anyone else sent a ticket aside from me? About the 5s resolution being horrendous
My iPad mini with retina plays this game great. Only thing is I can't use the telekenesis plasmid that well... When I try and hold somethjng and walk with it it's VERY cumbersome. And the screen almost glitches and I can't look around well at all.... Making throwing shit at big daddies very difficult.... Also.... Playing on iPad makes it very hard to use health packs in a pinch.... Idk. I made it to Fontaine fisheries and I think I've had enuff. I've died to big daddies over 15 times in one area. It's just to hard with these controls... Back to my PC BIOSHOCK now
Maybe they shoulda turned the iOS version into a rail shooter instead XD. (actually, that doesn't sound like a half bad idea....nvm, it's a horrible idea)
Ok so I decided to give it one more shot after eliminating everything I could possibly think of that took away precious cpu power. Here's what I did: 1) Airplane Mode On 2) Do Not Disturb On 3) All Notifications Off 4) Background App Refresh Off 5) Not sure if this would help, but I freed up an extra 3 gigs of space. (went from 1.8 to 4.5) I don't know how iPhones handle ram and virtual memory so I just did it for good measure. 6) No background apps (obviously) 7) Bluetooth Off Believe or not, my gaming experience is SUBSTANTIALLY improved. I'm a huge PC gamer and one of the most important things you can do is to free up as much cpu resources as possible to squeeze out every bit of processing power you can for your games. I've never really had to think this way for a friggin iPhone game, but Bioshock isn't exactly your typical app store game. So far so good. Framerates are much better. Not sure how things will get with more AI running around or my first Big Daddy encounter, but at least I'm encouraged to press on. Hope this helps some! Good Lick!
This probably didn't do any justice in comparison to the other things you did. But overall, I'm glad that you were able to improve your experience by killing all the other running processes. I sure hope that the next iPad and iPhone will include at least 2GB RAM (INSTA-mother####ing buy!) along with the usual stronger processor, etc. It's time already!
It's impossible,Apple as always take secret what show on keynote, look at INFINITY BLADE 3 last year,it will be always a game that nobody knows,at last,And sure when iPhone 6 came out,BIOSHOCK will be updated for running at a good resolution without any framerate issue..
Me,i've a ticket,but about my iPhone 5 resolution,that it's same horrible as iPhone 5s,only framerate it's better on iPhone 5s
I do The same, but there a way to disable all App Notification with One buttom instead of every day turn off an app at time then torn on after play? EDIT: if you Read One of my previous post,I talking with one of the devs,he say me that to run Propely BIOSHOCK need 1GB of ram,the entire 1GB,that it's a bad optimization due to the fact that also with "all" OFF,the OS,especially iOS 7,use ram for the OS,especially on iPhone, for it's routine things, still,we have only devices with 1GB of ram,so,they need to "Optimized"the use of ram that the game require..
