Hey man. Yes you can save the game at snytime and load a game anytime. I'm on a 5s and the game doesnot get to hot but it kills my battery. From 100% I can't see myself getting more then 2 hours of gameplay. And that's being generous. It's more like 1 1/2 hours. The controls are actually very good but there's no option the arrange them which kinda sucks. And I find them a little to small. But don't get me wrong they do the job. Yeah the graphics are dumbed down. Yeah the frames drop in certain high action times. Yeah it kills my battery. But it's BIOSHOCK and it's on my phone in my pocket. For what it is I think 2k did a great job. And forget about the gameplay for a second. The fact that they took a chsnce on a game like this really opens the doors up for other devs to see this and say hey lets port some of our old games. I would love to see the oringinal ninja gaiden for xbox. Also my dream is to get a ratchet and clank port. For some reason I think that game would work perfect on a iOS device. Anyway thanks 2k for taking a chance and putting this gem in my pocket.
thx fastbridge, so true about this opening doors. I am a 30 year gamer, and there are so many games, that would be great, maybe, on iPad,etc, IOS. Its taking much time to download Bioshock, but its worth it, cant wait to get to Rapture
Just loaded this up for the first time on my 5S and... WOW! I've played every BioShock title on consoles, and this BioShock is... BioShock! The graphics are utterly spectacular on these small-ass mobile devices. The music and ambiance and voice acting and atmosphere? It's all freakin' there! Anyway, i've got BioShock in my freakin' pocket. The best FPA game ever made in the palm of my hands. I'm too through.
Has anyone tried it on an iPad mini 1st gen? Is it even the slightest bit playable? I'll easily pay fifteen bucks if it runs at all.
I heard something about the graphics not being good on the 5s. Can anyone confirm? And 1 last question is this game worth the $15
I just hope all these people with iPad Mini first gen and iPad 3 who are buying the game don't leave negative reviews on the App Store because of the poor performance. Especially when it clearly says the game is for iPad 4, Air and iPhone 5, 5C, and 5S only.
I wonder how much work it would require to apply the Metal API in iOS 8 to the existing Bioshock code. Without the OpenGL overheads the game could well get sharper/better quality textures?
If I get it and it doesn't work, I will NOT leave a negictive review. If it works even it bit I think it needs the highest praise for working on such old hardware.
Textures aren't really really going to be affected, metal improves upon drawcalls which is capable of removing cpu bottleneck it's not much help to the gpu as such but will be able to feed data to it much quicker. You can expect improvements in physics and shader effects,Dynamic shadows would be easily possible if they do upgrade to metal and they absolutely should for that price.
Based on what has been said in this thread the gam WILL NOT RUN PLAYABLY on the first gen iPad Mini/iPad 2/iPhone 4S or iPod Touch 5. The reason why it's more likely to run on an iPad 3 is because that has the same type of GPU but with twice as many cores as the devices listed above. So assuming that the game is being rendered at 1024 x 768 (all I know is that it's not running at the native resolution of 2048 x 1536) the iPad 3 will have a much easier time handling a resolution close to that than any of the devices listed above.
There is something a little demented about just how far people are willing to go to rationalize a game like this being gutted just so they can say they have it on their portable device. Note I say "say they have it" rather than "play it", because frankly this game was meant to be played in a nice dark room on a stonkin' PC with the controls it was meant for - a mouse and keyboard. Some of these ports just seem to be about prestige, not gameplay. Be honest, most of you guys gushing about the game already played it on far superior hardware, with a far superior experience... Why are you all fired up about this port *just* because it can be carried out the door in your packsack? Bioshock was a great game, but most of the little things that made it so great have been quietly stripped from this port in order to shovel it onto wimpy hardware.
If all 2k games are in you're local App store, but Xcom come 2 week lately, stay safe,it eventually can hit you're App store in every moment, but sure will be out..
Same story, the not sync with game center,a common thing in iOS 7, with iOS 7.1 Apple solve this, and all the achievements see only in game, was showing also on GC,but with iOS 7.1.1/7.1.2 here we go again! The bad part it's that the only way to show them on GC it's restore the device with the last icloud backup..they magically coming back, but how do this procedure?
I don't want to be negative and I really like mobile games, but this port should have never been released for iOS.Firstly, aspect ratio is totally messed up , secondly graphic had to be lowered so much that it doesn't retain even glimpse of that dark environment and horror atmosphere of drowned city that make gameplay as it is on PC, thirdly touchscreen controls cannot replace keyboard and mouse for a game like this.
