It's not my thing. I love the style and the sound is great, but unlike the other games I've got for PS3, it just isn't compelling. I don't feel the need to play more.
thanks so much guys what are your opinions on: Uncharted II Bioshock Borderlands compared to my starting list?
That list is better by leaps and bounds, in my opinion. Perhaps not as varied, but I'd rather get those three than the ones you started with. I still love inFamous though.
I wouldn't have taken out Uncharted 2. Here would be my list: Modern Warfare 2 Uncharted 2 Borderlands
I'd stay away from Infamous and Borderlands, at least until you decide whether or not you like that kind of repitition. I enjoyed Borderlands, but once you've played it for an hour... that's basically the entire game, nothing else really changes except the weapons, and even then the changes are mostly stat-based. There are 8 or so core weapons types and the rest are variations. Plus... if you're not playing co-op, it loses a lot of it's charm... it'd be like playing WoW on your own and grinding for no reason. Infamous is the same story, lots of fetch/defense missions broken up by the occasional platform level. There are a few different moves, but none of them are all that unique or interesting and all of them are based around going zap over and over (sniper zap! shotgun zap!) and over and over until you decide you'll never play as a mage again. The city is kinda fun to climb at first, but it lacks the charm and wonder of cities in games such as Crackdown (360 exclusive) or Assassin's Creed 2. So... if I had to choose 3 from this topic, they'd be: MW2 (Beats all other shooters for both MP and SP, the only possible improvements would be in the co-op section. KZ2 is a technical marvel but the gameplay feels a bit generic) Uncharted 2 (The level of detail is insane, area design is insane, story is insane, full for the brim of set pieces and epic action... the only thing like it is Uncharted 1, also worth playing but not quite as good) Little Big Planet (Bioshock was a close call, but Bioshock 2 is due next year anyway. LBP is 100x more unique and should be experienced by everyone. You can't call yourself a gamer if you haven't played LBP, 4-player hilarity both online and offline, one of the nicest looking games on the platform... there's no chance you'll play through the entire game without smiling at least once)
Wow, I couldn't disagree any more. Shows, opinions are really different. It took an hour or so of Borderlands before I started to like it properly. Flame shields at the ready. Just get a PS3.
Get a ps3, I have a 360 and if I didn't just buy a new subscription card I would sell my 360 and get a ps3.
Well... not really. I said I liked Borderlands. That doesn't mean the game isn't largely repetitive, 'cause it is, whether you like it or not. Shoot stuff for guns and that's about it, you either enjoy it or you don't. I got about 50 hours of fun out of it but I can tell it's not the game for everyone so that makes recommending it to someone difficult without knowing specifically what they enjoy.
whichever more of your friends have... they are practically the same, i have a 360 and i know very few with a ps3, so i haven't got one
I would say PS3. Although I acknowledge that many multiplatform games look or perform slightly better on the 360, the difference is minimal, I've played a good amount of games on both consoles and games that look amazing on the 360 still look amazing on the PS3. So with that in mind, I play my PS3 more often due to the free online (which is pretty reliable & populated now, before anyone says anything) and the fact I don't have to worry about my PS3 overheating.
Here is how I see it: Ps3=$300 xbox 360 arcade=$200 Xbox 360 arcade needs: 1) Online Cards $50/year 2) Wifi Adapter (if you dont want to use ethernet cords) $100 3) Hard Drive (dont know the price) Ps3 has free online, ability to play straight over wifi with no adapter, built in hard drive. If you get the xbox elite you are paying $300 which comes with a hard drive but you still need to do something with online and the adapter. EDIT: Also you have to worry about overheating and the "red rings of death"
just go with the friends thing, i have 3 friends with a PS3 who traded them in because they were jealous of me and my friends COD4 knife fights, crazy customs in Halo 3 and pretty much every game. I'm sure if they had had 360s and we had PS3s they would have traded. So basicly get a PS3 then. On a side note, my bro is back from university and we just spent the better part of the day playing Borderlands, top notch game, we are really enjoying it
I have wii, 360, ps3. I got my ps3 3 years after my 360. If I didn't buy the good games for 360, I would have bought a ps3 no doubt. better grpahics, cheaper in the long run, more fun, more reliable, and better in general! Only thing about a 360 is the games are wider. Like I can buy a brand name that is known to be great (Halo 3) instead of killzone, which gets mixed reviews.
