Ok to start off, I have already done some research on this and I'm still stumped. I have $16.71 credit at gamestop and $5.01 credit on PSN. Money is an issue I recently got the ps3 slim with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Dragon Age, and mvc2. I've been looking into: Demon Souls (but its $60 so money is an issue I figured I'll buy this one once I'm done with Dragon Age and hopefully price has gone down by then) Bioshock (read the reviews but I'm not digging it from gameplay videos) Valkyria Chronicles (not too sure since I'm not a big fan of TBS) Batman: Arkham Asylum (not too sure though, I dont want a game I can pass really fast, I dont' want to feel like I wasted my money especially since I think it can go cheaper then a used $40) Pixel Junk Monsters (I have iPhone for TD games though) Looking forward to: Final Fantasy XIII, I've never played a single Final Fantasy game and with my newfound ps3 I hope to change that. However, I've read that the gameplay/story is too linear and its an "insult" to the Final Fantasy Franchise so I dont know. Games I do NOT like: sports, racing, stealth, games that are disturbing (extreme gore, crossing moral lines etc). Also, I'm not interested in games that are mostly for online gaming ( i dont want to remember halo2 days) I dont think I'd be interested in: Prototype, inFamous, MGS4, Uncharted2 (at least not until i finish the first one), Oblivion (already have dragon age),Fallout 3 (unless someone explains why its so good ), Ninja gaiden Sigma (already played it on xbox, not interested) So...any suggestions for PSN or ps3 games? (sorry for being such a long post)
...nope. I would have a ton but you don't seem to like anything FFVII and FFVIII are on PSN though if you ever fancy seeing how real JRPGs are made.
If you don't like stealth games, forget about Arkham Asylum. At least a good half (or at least 1/3) of the game involves you taking out armed thugs without them noticing you. I wasn't too impressed with the gameplay either. It's kinda repetitive, and the boss battles are either jokes, are hard because you have to take out thugs along with a couple of jacked monsters. I wasn't too into the idea of Bioshock either, but I tried it out, and I thought it was pretty good. The gameplay is fun just because of the different combinations of plasmids and weapons you can use together to take out your enemies, but it's mostly the amazing story and environments that make it so engrossing. If you plan to just play through it without savoring the extra bits, then get another game. In a nutshell, maybe Bioshock, try out a friend's copy or an demo on your computer. Definitely no Arkham Asylum. It's a good game, but you can do better. The intro is one of the best I've ever seen in a video game, heck maybe even a movie, just because of how strange, bizarre, and creepy it is. It wears off once you get used to the game, though.
Bioshock- wait for the sequel coming this year Demon's Souls- It will kick your ass twice... in the tutorial... you will die and love it Atlus the publisher is know for the quality for there games they are also know for publishing a very limited number of copies they are making more I think but you will be luck to get a copy right now if you see one you should get it LBP (little big planet)- get this and the DLC for the level creating more specifically the one with water ModNation- Think of Mario cart with the ability to create your own levels (ala LBP) from what I have heard from the betas the online play is fun and the interface is what Home should be
I was actually looking into getting this game, since its not all stealth. Games I'm looking into means I may actually buy them But your comments do help b/c now i may just wait longer and spend my money on something else. I keep going back to read the reviews and yea I want to play it. This is a good contender actually especially since its only $20 new and $17 used. If I can find someone to trade in my gamestop money for cash then I'll get it fast. (gamestop seems to be sold out) I read your previous suggestions and I looked into them, and i didnt find them that good after reading reviews and watching videos. I do like something though , I'm LOVING Dragon Age and MvC2. I've been thinking about getting FFVII since its the rave, but I'm afraid that after playing all these new games I wont enjoy it as much :\ Another one huh, how long does it take to beat it?
The most annoying parts of Batman are definitely the stealth sections though, everything else is basically button-mashing. I'd say Bioshock takes around 8-10 hours to finish on the default difficulty... longer if you want to collect everything.
So based on what everyone's saying it seems like it's between. Bioshock Valkyria Chronicles PixelJunk Monsters Unless someone's got a game that i havent thought of. How's Fallout 3? I think what turned me off it was the comment by a reviewer saying that anything's possible short of rape/killing children and that it wasnt with anyone with a developing moral compass. Those words sort of made me think twice .
I bet with Bioshock there will be either a price drop or something to do with the sequel probably should wait for it
fallout 3. Great game. It sounds like you're getting a game for a tennager/kid. As long he is not psychologically challenged (does that make sense?) he should be fine with the mature themes. But no guarantees.
I think the game is for him... the moral decisions are the great thing about Fallout 3. You can kill someone, spare their life, spare their life and rob them of everything they own, help them out... It's not all black and white though, sometimes you might have to make a small sacrifice to save a bunch of people. It's also not always clear if the person you're dealing with is good or bad, maybe they're neutral and capable of both... what do you do now?!
Yeah you can't go wrong with Uncharted 2. Amazing story, amazing graphics, amazing gameplay... involves killing some guys but it's not especially brutal, it's basically Indiana Jones in computer game format.
Exploration is definitely more annoying. Some of the buildings are freakin' mazes. I have to looks at the map at least 5 times to get out of places like the Mansion or the Intensive Care center. Stealth is the only chance to actually use your gadget upgrades.
well i need to play a game that my daughter will likely see everynow and then so i dont want to scar her for life. That's not something my wife will agree with. I'm already pushing it with Dragon Soul and Bioshock. Uncharted2 is a little too pricey right now, as is Dragon Soul also :\ So for Fallout 3. Its not that dark? B/c it's at a great price of $30 bucks. In that case it'll be: Bioshock Fallout 3 Valkyria Chronicles for the running (i dont think Bioshock will sell cheaper than $20)
Well with Fallout 3... you will end up blowing heads off, so it's not suitable for children. I was merely speaking on a moral level, the only heads you're really forced to blow off are those of downright horrible people, i.e. raiders and bandits. Innocent people are up to you, and children cannot be killed, invincible little f***ers.
