I have a PS Vita preordered, and am really looking forward to it. I was pretty hardcore into iOS gaming for the past 2 years, but recently I started to miss real controls a lot. A few weeks ago I pulled my PSP out for the first time since getting into iOS, and it was a revelation. It hit me so hard... touch screen controls are just a struggle for many types of games, and covering part of the screen with your fingers can get annoying. So I sold my 4G Touch, and that money will buy my Vita. Note, I am keeping my iPad 2 but I will probably only play strategy and puzzle games on it after I get the Vita. Might also sell my iCade, since I really don't use it much. But it is really nice. So, anyone else getting a Vita? If so, will you still play iOS games? Or do you see your game habits changing?
Yeah I'm definitely getting one I'd made my mind up the second I saw the specs and then seeing clips of Wipeout and Street Fighter just made me want one more. I'll probably keep my iPod at least until the battery goes and if Apple don't release an upgraded one I'll probably just replace it with whatever Samsungs latest superphone at the time is. Vita looks really good and I think the original PSP is the best electronic device I ever bought so I don't think I'll regret buying a Vita.
For SURE! I have one preordered too..wifi only...not interested in 3g...I also am a MOD on a known psp hacks forum if you ever wanna share tweeks or need to mod your system...pm me if interested... also do alot with the 3ds and dsi if anyone also needs modding tips...
Yeah, I love Wipeout and it looks amazing on Vita. For fighting, I'm leaning more toward Marvel vs Capcom 3 than SF vs Tekken. Maybe I'll get both eventually. But the game that intrigues me most right now is Gravity Rush. That game looks amazing and I love the art style - reminds me of Jet Set/Grind Radio.
I had one preordered on Amazon when they first started taking preorders, but just recently cancelled it. I think the Vita is a fantastic handheld, but I think with my feelings towards the 3DS, the price drop and the lack of games (which will change in a month), I've decided to wait and see. I bought the PSP day one originally and loved it. It was state of the art, had the best graphics and thought it was amazing. Then came the lull where nothing came out and that turned me off. The same thing with the DS and then the 3DS. I think I'll give it some time, see if it truly takes off with more support and then get one eventually if it's worth it. For now, I'm getting an iPad 2 for Christmas and given my schedule with work and family, see this as a better fit/cost. I realize it will never be as deep as what a Vita could potentially be, but I miss my iPad.
I am probably getting the Vita too. I've been so into iOS gaming on my iPod (bought more apps than I can handle (they're just so cheap compared to other handheld games )... I missed the PSP's large LCD screen and analog stick! In fact, I still haven't finished God of War Ghost of Sparta-- bought that months ago-- on my PSP.
I too preordered the PS Vita, and hope it doesn't disappoint... It looks amazing, especially LBP! i just hope Sony doesn't drop the ball as far as games are concerned on this device, like they did with the PSP. That was such a great system, and had so much potential, but really turned into the worst platform ever because of the lackluster library.
It looks amazing, and I want it day one, but I won't be getting it for a while due to a lack of funds. Plus the launch games aren't all that enticing. But the ones that do look good, look FANTASTIC. Physical controls ftw. I do love iPod gaming though.
Playstation Vita - Opinions? Hi i have never looked into the Vita since its announcement as had a Psp and only used it occasionally. However yesterday at my local Game shop they had a whole area dedicated to it with giant posters etc and looking at the breakdown of what it does/has sounds pretty damn good Just wanting to know really your thoughts, whether your getting one, what games your getting on launch etc. Having bought 3DS on launch i was very disappointed that there were no big launch titles and to top it off a few months later they slashed the price a third due to poor/slow sales, i would be really miffed if that happens with Sony as £230 plus game is a lot of pennies Cheers guys look forward to comments
I was considering pre-ordering a Vita but wound up purchasing a Kindle Fire instead for the following reasons. - Since the App Store opened I've only taken my PSP out with me once. - The games top out at $10 more then PSP titles. ($50 US vs. $40 US) - The proprietary memory cards are too damned expensive. - Lack of TV out, I'm not spending well over $300 on hardware and console quality games only to have that experience restricted to a 5" screen. - A few of the of the early major PSP releases were later released on PS2. If the PSP versions of GTA, Twisted Metal and Ratchet & Clank were all ported to the PS2 why shouldn't I expect the same of the Vita and PS3?
Eversince I owned a iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, I have never touched my PSP and DS which both I sold. Im not paying $40 for mobile games anymore lol, If I want to play Uncharted, Im playing it on my PS3 which costs $60.
But they say its basically ps3 graphics in your pocket. Who doesnt want that right lol, may wait a few months and see what the launch and new announced games Are like, Bioshock Vita. May be a must! Lol
won't buy Learned the lesson from my 3DS. Wont buy it. Don't get me wrong I really like my 3DS but the battery is a dogshit. I thought that it will be fine since I always play my games at home and recharging is easy thanks to the craddle, but apparently no, it's not fine. I don't like it. Having to recharge every 1 or 2 days is disappointing. I'll wait for the new vita version, or might buy it if Sony drop the price which is likely since it's not selling very well right now.
Personally I see no need for a PS Vita. I have my PS3 and PC for when I'm at home and my iPhone is always with me so I can play games on that when I'm away from home. I just love the versatility of my iPhone. And since buying it, handheld consoles like the 3DS and PS Vita no longer appeal to me.
Kindle Fire is kinda fail, to be honest. I have one. Browser is slow, touch screen is finicky and unresponsive, the auto-correct function is awful, the period button on the keypad right next to the smallish spacebar leads to unintentional button pushing over and over again, you cant get the cursor to move to the correct spot to edit text manually, the battery is abysmal in comparison to an iPad, the AppStore carries like 10-20 percent of all available Android apps. Really shabby production. They've added a few more mainstream apps as of late. Gameloft might be up to 10, but none of their recent stuff. EA is nonexistent, other then Dead Space. Look, Real Racing 2 just came out for Android, period, like a week ago, and it ain't on the Amazon AppStore. It's bad. Really bad. I'm fascinated with the notion of console-quality gaming on a portable device. The iPhone rarely, if ever delivers on that. When it does, we are usually talking decade old ports. Gameloft, and possibly EA, have abandoned the premium gaming business when it comes to iOS development. If you are into the notion of dedicated portable gaming, it's time to look elsewhere to supplement your needs. I'm not saying abandon iOS altogether, but we are in need of a complimentary option here and that is the promise the PS-Vita offers. A TV out function doesn't work with touch screen virtual control games, by the way; not ones with elaborate control schemes. Just try playing MC3 that way and see how far you get.
No . I can't return to 30-40$ handheld games, it's all ios for me from now on (and there's more than enough console-type games with a ton more coming )
So far I haven't noticed the browser being particularly slow in comparison with Safari on an iPad 1. I've got three different browsers installed and I'm mostly using Firefox and switching over to Silk for pages with flash video. I can't really argue about the keyboard functionality as it does leave a lot to be desired. Cut & paste operates totally differently in different apps which is confusing, it works great in most third party apps but it's a pain in Silk. As far as the apps go I'm getting most of my software through the browser though I've spent about $5 on apps and the free app a day feature is really nice. Maybe I'm more willing to overlook it's faults due to the fact that I already have an iPad but I actually like the device far more then the iPad. It's certainly not a better product overall but it suits my needs better and the iPad is too damned big. If the Vita had TV-out I'm sure most of the games I'd be using it with would have physical controls. I do play touchscreen games using TV-out all the time though, anything with basic swipe and tap controls instead of on screen buttons plays fine.
I was going to Pre-Order a PlayStation Vita First Edition Bundle but i did cancel my Preorder when i saw that Sony did cut out the HDMI/Video out. Also the current list of Games and those of the upcoming Once does look very poor and Sony and the other Third-Party Developer need to really make some more Top Titles to convince me to buy the new Device after the other PSP Devices. I don`t care that much about the Price of the Memory Sticks or the Games overall. The Vita is still half as expensive as the iPhone 4S or the iPad 2 so I would not even wait a second Moment if there would be enough Content to make me buy it. Maybe 2012 we will see some must-have Titles that would make it worth to buy one but I`m currently really not sure about it.
