I have a few extra promo codes laying around and figured I should give them out. I recently posted a blog entry on how Yipe! 5 sales have gone since the game was released in December.

I'm curious as to if people find this interesting or not.

Let me know what you think and I'll give 3 promo codes out to the first to respond.

I thought it was interesting - sucks to hear that Apple is so slow to pay out...

    (And I'd love a code! :))

    Wow

You guys are fast readers. :)

I'm always amazed at how quickly people respond to the promo code forums. I take it those who posted did want codes and were not just commenting in general?

Drelbs --> just sent you your code.

BTW, if you want to find out more about the game, there is a dedicated website for the game here:

    Thank you for the code!

This is good timing as I'm just now finishing Undercroft and will be in need for a new RPG to take it's place. ;)

Maybe you should try and match your 99 cent sales with reviews? You got like 100 more sales with the 99 cent price and the reviews gave you many more sales as well.

Also I think if you priced it at 99 cents at the beginning it could've reached higher in the charts and had more visibility. Sword and Poker sarted at 99 cents and rocketed up the charts, but as soon as they went to full price they plummeted much faster. So I guess there are pros and cons either way.

Also I think starting with a lite would've gone a long way as well. Since a large amount of sales were generated in the first few weeks it had more visibility, thus more people who watned to try it, and a lite would've gave them that option.

Thanks da shiz wiz. That's definitely the type of feedback I was looking for.

I just sent you over a promo code.

For future Yipe games, I like the 99 cent start strategy. Still torn as to if I should start with full or lite version though.

Very interesting information. I already have the game, so I'm just here to comment on the article. I wish I had some helpful suggestions for improving your bottom line. At the very least, I need to write a review for the App Store, especially so since I really like the game.

The game is definately interesting (to say the least). I would be willing to review for you if you wish to give a code to me

As to your wondering full or lite first... I would release both at the same time. If you had to choose what To release first, I'd release the full version first because I find it a major disapointment when I love a lite version and find that no full version is available. Also, those apps without full version yet but with a lite version, I tend to stay away from. This is all based on my opinion so this may not be the same views for everyone, I'm no expert...

Ok, I handed out the three extra promo codes I had for Yipe.

I'm sure I'll generate more sometime soon and will post another contest in order to give them away.

Don't forgot, those who didn't win a code, there is a free lite version of the game that you can try out. More info here:
    http://www.yipe5.com

    Thanks all!

OK, so I played Yipe! 5 over the weekend. ;)

The game reminds me most of Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior) 1 or 2 - it's a very simple, streightforward RPG - kill stuff, get gold, buy stuff so you can kill bigger stuff and get more gold to buy better stuff...

There is an overworld with towns/shops and dungeons to chew through, and a cute story that ties everything together.

If you're the type of person who appreciates humor and likes to stop and smell the flowers, this is your RPG. If you aren't the type to search around and read all the funny stuff, you'll miss out on a lot of what this game has to offer. If you're the RPG Munchkin type, this game will probably annoy you since item descriptions are like "Super Powerful Ring +1" :)

However, if you're in the mood for a lite, humerous RPG that isn't complex and doesn't take itself too seriously, this is a great little game. There is some replay value as you will unlock things when you finish, can play as different character types, and the game keeps track of days spent, number of deaths, etc. so you can try to improve those.
