Edit, so impressions: First off, thanks for the code. The gameplay starts with an overhead map, where you see symbols of your character and the monsters. It is well made, and colorful in a retro style. When you bump a monster, the combat starts, and this was the part i think could use a lot more work. You are transfered in a battle screen with you and the monster, and while the monster and the character look good, the background feels way too bland (ie just a green square). Also, the monster attacked me with a ray, and i saw the animation. I selected a crossbow attack, and my character just stood there, with the text telling me the crossbow hit. Also, the battle UI is all over the place, with options left and right along the screen, not describing what each would do except for the attack. In my opinion, if you fix the ui position and details for what the ability does with numbers, add animations, and make the background a bit better, you will have a solid game.
