Prolix 2.0 was approved this afternoon and is available in the App Store! This new version adds a new game play mode, additional graphics sets, control improvements, and more!

One of the best changes is some subtle control tweaks. Adding more area for touch and less accuracy required should hopefully make the game more controllable in the high levels that move extremely quickly.

Interesting way to give out codes.... too bad I'm mired in the middle of a group that's already been claimed. Prolix looks pretty cool, though.

The update is definitely a big improvement. It is easier and quicker to move the block now, and the weighted random tile generator does a good job of eliminating the times when you get 10 consonants in a row.

I wasn't sure if the new colored alphabet blocks would make things confusing or not, but I actually like playing with them most right now.

Glad to see that updates are starting to be approved faster now for most games. For awhile it seemed like everything was taking longer than usual.

Yeah, the approval process has been pretty good for us so far. The initial release took a few weeks, but was during the 3.0 craziness so I'm sure that slowed it down.

We actually re-submitted the update on Monday, and it was approved on Friday so pretty quick!

We submitted the Prolix 3.0 update this weekend, and we are very excited about what it brings to the game!

    What's new in 3.0
    • Added online global leaderboards
    • Added Facebook Connect so you can post results to your wall
    • Added the ability to access your iPod music directly from the game
    • Added 2 new tile sets - Metal and Ninja
    • Upgraded to official SOWPOD dictionary

With the addition of online scores you can now compete against the best scores around the world.

Hopefully this update will be approved as quickly as our last!

Here's some pictures of the new tiles:

This game has potential, I wish words didn't have to only be spelled out uni-directionally - say like for SALE, it could be an S above an A but then the L to the left of that A with an E below it, if that makes sense. The game ends up being dominated by 3 and 4 letter words the way it is now, as it's way too rare that you come across anything longer.

EDIT: Say like in the left screenshot above with the D dropping down - I wish you could put it on top of the middle O and have that E count to spell DOE, or say move it over to the U and have DUNE spelled out.

Interesting thoughts CioCio, thanks for the comments! Although, in the gameplay you described I think that you would have more 3 letter words since it would increase the chances of spelling a word when it can be any letter it's touching. We chose this game style because we wanted to make something different from the "touch to spell" word games that let you spell using any adjacent tiles.

Unfortunately you are correct as the majority of the words are 3 and 4 letter words, however you get rewarded for bigger words! If you capture large enough words you get extra bombs/shakes (depending on point value). Big words are possible to capture, but require some careful planning. When successful though it's worth it for the extra specials which can really help out getting a better high score.
