I'm actually surprised that there are no apple fanboys here defending apple with their bare chests. happens a lot in my country... no matter how ludicrous thing apple would make - they would regard it as cool, trendy and positive for the customer. as for me - I call BS ;)

Looks awesome, especially since our game is in the "what were playing section" :)

Ahhh it seems I was too slow to come around here to spread the good news :p.

I heard about if from Jeff Lamarche on twitter and I have re-tweet the news :D.

Lets hope its gonna stay that way!

Ohhh and I like now that they have the top 200 instead of 100, so it give chance to another set of 100 apps/games in each sub-categories!

Not too excited about how the name of the app (right below the icon) is truncated. For example, Paper Toss: World Tour becomes "Paper Toss: Wo..."
Unless your app has a short, one-word name, like "Geared" or Enigmo", it won't fit. On the old app store, you could hover your mouse over the text beneath the icon and it would show the FULL name,no matter how long like "Doodle Jump - BE WARNED: Insanely Addictive!"

The "new" app store: subcats are back.

It looks like the subcats are back, at least in the US. When I go to "games" in the category menu I see a new page that wasn't there yesterday, with the old sub-categories (strategy, action) at the bottom right.

I still don't think they're done - I'd imagine that every "old" style page with the blue backgrounds and gray title bars are due for replacement with the new style.

Not in all the App Stores I think (but I guess the US store makes a bulk of the sales, so its still a win).

hmmm Im using iTunes 8, and I dont see subcats in US store

installing iT 9, what a hog, 99 megs for a browser

I can see 2 frames with "best XYZ game" - tower defense and chess. 2 types - thats a plus. but instead of 8 games per frame there are only 4 now, which is a minus

as a side note - people are happy and excited that apple repaired something that they shouldnt have broken in the first place... ;)

EDIT: I have subcats in iT9. dont have in iT8, still broken there

we've seen a big drop in our sales since the changes .... I'm hoping they put them back in itunes 8 too soon, and am also worried about how the categories are generally less visible in itunes 9 ....
