Dunno if this is the right forum or whatever, noob etc.

Games just stop...working and sometimes, don't work at all. I put them on - they might load as far as the menu screen, then they just close. So I delete it off the iPhone and my comp and reinstall it on my iPhone and still nada. I've even tried the all powerful on off. Nothing. Others work fine for a while and then they suddenly stop working as well. There seems to be no logic to which games stop working, it seems to be totally random. It's happened to about 6 or so games now. Thankfully none of them have been apps I had to pay for, yet.

Is it possible to get like, an iPhone virus or something? Anyone else had this problem etc

Sometimes many free games on the App store are just that buggy unfortunately. You can't really do anything but post a review saying that the app crashes a lot.

What are the apps that are crashing?

Oh and also, there aren't any iphone viruses ;)

I looked around and saw no one complaining about this but so far it's been Nyan! Cat, which didn't work from the start. M tanks, which stopped working. Run Dog Run, which I never got passed the menu. Demolition Dash, which I never got passed the menu. Yummy Yummy which I never got past the dev logo screen. I think there were more, but I'd long since given up on them. Originally this happened so rarely I barely registered and just deleted the game. But now it's happening more and more frequently and I guess the iPhone virus suggestion was stupid, but it's almost like my iPhone is degrading or something.

Demolition Dash does not support iPhone 3G

Assuming that you're still using the iPhone 3G that is mentioned in your profile, I need to inform you that Demolition Dash does not support iPhone 3G. Only 3rd generation devices and later can be supported, due to memory restrictions. Actually, the App Store description does state this quite clearly.

Strictly speaking, the game is not even crashing, i.e. there is no crash bug. Instead iOS shuts the game down because it considers only a certain amount of RAM to be safely allocated by an app. And even with some major memory footprint optimization that has gone into the version 1.4 patch, we just couldn't squeeze Demolition Dash into the memory budget of an iPhone 3G.

Sorry for that, but we really cannot do much more than tell you so in the App Store description.
I do assume that you got Demolition Dash for free this weekend? If you ever encounter such an issue with one of our paid apps, please contact the dreamfab support for a refund. We'll be more than happy to help you out.

    Regards
    /chris

Oh that's odd, normally when it's a game not supported on the 3G, it doesn't even go on the device.

Interesting. Do you have some examples of such an iPhone game that wouldn't let you install itself on an iPhone 3G?

    thx in advance,

That's hardly true.. Games that aren't supported on older devices will still install. Most times, theyre just not going to work properly with few exceptions. The only apps that won't install on an iPhone/iPod are iPad ones.

When I downloaded Death Rally without reading it properly (fail). I didn't even realise it wasn't supported until I went to sync my device and it gave me a pop up that said 'this game is not supported on this device' and cancelled the sync.

    Australia, mate!
I had the exact same problem with my iPhone 4 a year ago! I tried everything, but nothing could fix it. In the end, I went to the Apple Store and got it replaced.

I guess the most obvious thing would be going to the apple store... haha! I guess I'll go do that.

Brilliant! I'll go and give Death Rally a spin on one of our iPhone 3G test devices. If iTunes does the same thing there, maybe there is a feature that we haven't used so far, which we can tap into for our upcoming releases.
After all, such a feature would make things easier both for you and for us. :D

    thx again

I'm bumping this because the problem has started again. This time with two paid apps which have worked fine in the days and weeks I've had them. I know an iPhone virus is a stupid idea, but the explanation of it not working on a 3G iPhone doesn't count here either. And since I paid for these games, it's a little more serious this time.

Which ones? It would be a little bit easier if we knew, because there can be multiple reasons why your apps are crashing/closing.

Oh, and iTunes stops you from downloading incompatible apps in the iDevice app store. Of course it wouldn't stop you on the PC/Mac app store.

Probably have a memory leak I'd just try restarting it and if that didn't help probably just hard reset the device.

It's simple to do but probably not something you should do often just hold the two buttons down together until the device restarts itself.

Gangstar 2. And that Sonic kart racing game. They aren't incomplete, like I said, I've had Gangstar for about a week and it's worked fine and I've had the kart racer a few weeks and that's worked fine. Then, after I plugged them into my broken mac to charge my iPhone (it doesn't sync it, just charges it). They stopped working, every game works, except those two.

What's the difference between turning it on and off and hard resetting?

Supposedly, turning off and on does squat for your available memory. Rebooting clears some of the used memory? Something along those lines, but I'm no expert. I just like the effects it has :p

Well it worked...kinda, the two games that weren't working now work. But all apps I've downloaded on my iPhone (since my Mac is broke) that haven't been synced were deleted as well.
