here's a last one, taking from the producers blog: [...]But where would we start? First, study the game on all platforms, then concentrate on portable devices and touch screen features, then start a tough pre-production phase. It was decided not to "port" the game from any existing version; we wanted the iPhone/iPod touch game to be its own special one. The good news for us was that we could use previous PES games for reference. And we quickly agreed that we should target the quality of the PSP versions. Firstly because we thought graphics on the PSP looked fabulous, secondly because of the iPhone's processing speed and display capacities being potentially comparable to those of a "small" PSP. Now, making decisions is a good thing, delivering is something else Our target platform is very specific and must be treated accordingly. We started work bearing in mind there was a long road ahead, we've got a great team here, and we are still working hard on the game making sure it is a true PES experience. Thanks for the link, that sounds good. And yes the screenshots look good, but then many gaes look good if only based on screenshots As I said earlier, X2 2009 is very easy and shallow. You can't do different kind of shots and the computer AI is ridiculous. All you need to do is dribble, dribble, shoot and score incredible goals. There's no building up the play patiently, it's 'kick n rush'. FIFA has a very steep learning curve which can be very intimidating to non-hardcore players, but it offer much better experience once you master it. X2 is easier to play and suits casual gamers better. All that said, X2 2010 sounds like a huge improvement and I can't wait to see which is the best football game for iPhone.
Game is due in June. That blog post shared the producers thought from a retroperspective. So not much longer to wait. Stand by for more. And again: "like" Pro Evolution Soccer on facebook to get updated
I peronally liked x2 soccer 2010 much better. The game felt more fluid. For example, In Fifa, when you steal the ball, often it feels like it's glued to you. In x2, it doesn't feel like that. There are problems with the AI though, but it's still the better game by far.
well, it seems this this thread is a bit wrong! it's 2010, not 2011 http://www.voltagepr.com/release.asp?i=897
I must say I'm seriously hyped about the coming of this game. Not just because I love soccer games but after playing X2 2010, I'm anxious to see if it can be outdone.
i'm somewhat doubtful... x2 2010 is pretty damn near perfect. i'd like to see exient outdo themselves!
Should I take the X2 Football 2010 plunge or wait for this? I already have X2 Football 2009 though...
2010 is way better than 2009. PES isn't coming out until next month. You should get this now and in a month get PES
If you only have budget for one, then definitely wait for PES. Play other games on your iPhone or football games on your PS3 / X360, I bet it's still better than X2 2010 and PES for iPhone combined
new blog post out: find infos on controls here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/notes/pro-evolution-soccer/creativity-and-self-control-designing-pes-2010-iphones-unique-controls/114419961932490 http://uk.games.konami-europe.com/blog.do#blog-entry-359
controls sound interesting, but it doesnt sound like itll let you have freedom in your plays. but i guess i dont exactly know how it works.. does sound very good tho, im actually looking forward to this now any ETA on a sneek peek video? edit: also nice to see you guys are taking a new approach on the football gaming on iDevices
Sounds cool. Will grab this as soon as it's out along with X2 so I can compare the two on the same day. I'm glad you still include an option to use the more traditional virtual buttons as when reading the first few sentences I became worried it'd be like a dumbed down game like MGStouch again. Any ETA? Sorry I'm impatient but please take your time in polishing and making the game perfect. I much prefer that than a rushed and unfinished game.
@playn: this control option is indeed a little more constraning, but allows a much easier acess to the game. There are more hardcore controls that allow maximum control as well for the more advanced players. We thought we should grab the opportunity and introduce PES to people how have in the past been kept from accessing it simply by its depth. Trailer is in production. @don: ETA is early June. We share your expectations on quality, so does the Japanese console team. They would never let us release quality that we do not perceive as competetive or even superior. @ random: this will be a yet to be defined premium price point that we also guarantee to maintain (no price drop after 24 hours if oyu know what I mean).A
