Hmmm, never played this game, but I did play Warrior Within on the PS2 and it was absolutely a FANTASTIC experience. Is this just a side scroller? Looks to be.
Did you play Sands of Time? One of the all time greats! This is a remake of the POP original series. So it's old school platforming. Should be a hard but fair challenge IF they nail the controls
As far as the Sands of Time trilogy is concerned, I loved Sands of Time and Two Thrones, but didn't really care for Warrior Within. The Godsmack track, the Prince's silly "I so hardcore" attitude, the (EFFING HEEEEELLLLLL) backtracking...definitely wasn't my favorite in the series. Think I may stick them on my laptop and play through them...provided they still work.
Yeah it was a pretty lame sequel. What was with him becoming American? I would love to see Sands of Time on ios down the track.
There was a Sands of Time spinoff on the PSP and was a fantastic sidescrolling platformer adventure game, despite the mixed reviews. Apparently, after SoT trilogy, they just want another 3D game. Ridiculous reason to put a game down without even trying it.
I'm loving the look of this one. Hope it controls okay and its not swipe crazy or that. Interested to see first impressions tomorrow As a kid i loved the original Prince of Persia despite not being able to get that far into it.
Think its personal opinion. They tried making a 3d Mario Land and despite being successful people still prefer the side platformers. You say 'few people cared about their 2d counterparts', dont believe that. Prince of Persia was HUGE because of the original 2d side view game, the side view sequels were also popular. Its like saying few people cared about the 2d Mario Land games and only wanted 3d. Depends what you grew up with, many games in the 80's and 90's loved the 2d side scrolling Prince of Persia games, some kid who played just the 3d one probably wouldnt give the older version a try sadly
The original PoP was very popular. I played it along with many of my workmates at the time. 23 years ago - eek!
after the success of rayman origin (2D) Ubisoft understanded that mobile owners like this kinds of game ----------------------------------- samsung galaxy note 3 galaxy note 3
The reason why they were rebooted to have 3D incarnations is because of how popular the classic 2D ones were. Their 3D incarnations were due to the fact that it will feel more modern, and as you said, can have more dimension to the games. But all that doesnt mean that any attempts on a 2D reimagining of the classics are automatically bad. Mario 64 is fantastic. Does that mean that the classic Mario titles became bad? Ocarina of Time is great. Does that mean A link to the Past and earlier incarnations were bad? Is it a bad idea to remake and reboot the classic Mario and Zelda games in their 2D core? Definitely not... But the execution is were it'll all come down to.
Well time will tell. Prince of Persia is very popular with a lot of people as 2d, and it seems other gamers like 3d. I'm personally glad they've kept to the 2d roots and looking at the video gameplay its great theyve updated the original. Just have to see how it does with sales etc, either way i'm looking forward to it
They probably didnt earn millions before, but the franchise had significant following, and that's why they used that to create something bigger. It would guarantee a big chunk of the fans of the original will bite, and that already starts a buzz, hoping that the new look will attract more consumers.
In this article from PocketGamer says that ''The Shadow and the Flame is yet to materialise on the App Store for the iPhone and iPad. This is apparently due to a technical issue''. Grrrr... This could be a week with Prince of Persia, Asphalt 8 and Shadowrun and we have 0 till now http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPad/Prince+of+Persia%3A+The+Shadow+and+the+Flame/news.asp?c=52590
