Thanks for all the kind words! So great to finally show you guys more of the game, seems to be going down well
Hehe sweet. Just so you know, that galaxy you see in the trailer is the first release. BUT there will be more galaxies added over time! All with seamless flight in between, no loading screens.
Just found out about this game from the article on TA. This game seriously looks awesome. Day one buy for me. I also just bought the developers old game Plunderland because that looks great as well. Is there a release date for this game yet?
Also what are the controls like? I really hope you don't have to tilt the device to move. I can't stand tilt controls...
Awesome to hear. How will the controls be if you turn off tilt? I think something like if you hold your finger down on the left side of the screen you go left, same for right. For both walking and in cars. And then you swipe up to jump. And I'm just assuming you drag back from the player to shoot like in Plunderland? I think those would be the best controls for this game. Also If you can flip the cars while in the air, I wouldn't mind doing that with tilt controls. Kind of like "Dream Track Nation".
This game looks so stinkin awesome! I am wondering the all important question: (For me at least) So, my all important question is: DOES THIS GAME RUN ON 2ND GEN IPODS?
Unfortunately not, its iPhone4 and iPad upwards. Should be doing 3GS support but thats down to final performance. (iPods of same gen) We made Plunderland work on all devices and it severely limited our gameplay design, we want this to be our best game yet so we could only support the more powerful devices
There really should be little dissent on this subject If we want the iOS gaming base to continue to garner respect and support among the rest of the gaming industry, and if we want to play games that push our devices to their bleeding edges, and therefore bestow upon us gaming experiences never before thought possible in the mobile space, we don't want developers to be limited to old hardware, much like most of us probably do not want desktop developers to develop games that end up downsized, marginalized or simplified by adherence to 8 year old hardware (possibly a rough equivalent to the power gap between 2nd gen iOS devices and the newest releases, thanks to the rapidly accelerated technical development in smartphone hardware). This is an unqualified guess, but I'm thinking Skyrim might not have been quite as impressive had it been made to run on hardware that struggles with anything beyond Morrowind
If Plunderland was our Morrowind, Prevail is our Skyrim. Thats for sure.. ps. I loved both those games!
Any chance you could give us a release window? I seem to remember it being stated as February earlier in the thread but the vibe I get now is that it might have slipped.
Cant say exactly yet, but soon! The level of effort we are putting into the interface to enable intuitive gameplay but keeping depth, We are aiming for a perfect for device feel but with the control and quality of something like a PSN game. It feels perfect playing on a tv too, the visuals look stunning and moves so fluidly. We are putting a lot of effort in
In the video you show a ship leaving the orbit of the first planet and landing on a second. Can you manually fly the ship? From the video it looks like you choose a planet by touching it and your ship automatically flies there. Is that the only way to travel from planet to planet, by an autopiloted ship?
