White screen bug here. I hit play and it just lags to the point of being unplayable. Air2 btw. Refunding. I dom't want to be take for a ride.
My guess the devs will be on here monday since its the weekend. I wonder if they know the game even released.
I'm almost certain that the dev basically lost faith in his product and decided to rage quit. Look at the App Store description. Everything about it screams "screw this, it's taken over my life for five years and drained me, I can't fix all these bugs and gameplay issues and I'll probably never see a return on it anyway. Here's your dumb app, now leave me alone". I've been there before too. I know the feeling when you put everything into a risky project that drags on for years. Put it this way. No one works on a product for five years, "accidentally" releases the wrong build, and then doesn't meticulously follow social networks and blogs to monitor the response for such a game launch. Even in the case that he "doesn't know" it was released, he definitely would now unless he's on an island with no Internet or had something urgent come up (doubtful). Either he rage quitted or sold the rights to the game to someone else (also doubtful as the buyer would at least dress it up). Edit: Or maybe just personal/family/health issues and wanted to move on.
Well if I remember well he is the one who started that thread, so yes he knows and is, i think, doing the ostrich right now. That's the reason why I'll ask for a refund, because if it were only a mistake or just a lack of time to fix all that and he was here to discuss about it, I would totally forgive him, even a lack of funds would have been forgivable like "sorry guys I can't continue it but I'll release it even tho it's a bit broken". But ever since it's out, not a single word about it.
You won't find any rationality in his decision. That's why I called it a rage quit, it was done in anger. Probably fully aware of its self-destructiveness. Believe me, I've been there too.
they will come on monday and say that they submit the wrong version and very sorry about the situation AND they will fix it in short amount of time. This game is basically broken and i suggest a refund and never looked back. ps. sorry Johnny i suggest you to find another shoes.
It's very sad, it had potential and I'm sure it could be fixed with one or two updates. It really reminds me of ...... No Man's Sky
But, No Man's Sky's developer did admit that even he thought that his game was bad and he is trying his best to try and get the game to the way he envisioned it. Johnny on the other hand is doing nada.
This is exactly what I thought, too. There was trouble with the game a year or two ago and it went from being a game with a story to progress through to something where you just do whatever you want and muck around. It was around that time that I got the impression that Josh just wanted to be done with the game.
It makes sense. Sad, but likely the scenario. Edit: Did some sigging on the old thread and if it is the case he wasn't being entire truthful with us (or himself). The post was from November: "Hey, Prevail is doing well, just a couple of bugs to fix then its done. Should be submitted quite soon, will keep you updated. Hope you're well."
Okay, I've been in touch with Max Scott-Slade who is the brother of Josh and the former co-founder of Johnny Two Shoes, and will be writing a front page article explaining the release of Prevail in the next few days after I've spoken to him later this week. I don't want to go into details yet until I have fully spoken to Max, but the bottom line is this is a pretty complicated and sensitive issue. I'd greatly appreciate if people could temporarily stop speculation over the nature of the release until the article has gone up, and also for anyone to perhaps hold off trying to contact either Max, Josh, or any of the other people related to the game again until I've spoken to him in person. If you have any issue with this, feel free to PM me on here or the Discord for the time being. And if you are on the fence in regards to downloading Prevail, I'd recommend to hold off for a few days, but entirely down to you. Thanks guys
If in any case you're interested in playing this version of the game instead of waiting, here's a list of the things I've found regarding gameplay: - In the menus, if you press a bit on top of the overlapped texts (and keep pressed), when you only see the text "tutorials", you can enter the settings menu and input the universe seed there. If you keep pressed on the wrong part and see "settings", it will take you to the YouTube tutorials. The way to avoid the app from taking you there is to move the finger to a blank part of the screen, so that no option is chosen. - To exit vehicles, or anything else which needs "exitting" (menus, vehicles, pinched views, etc.), keep the top left button pressed (the one which looks like "eject CD"). - Buttons, or grabbing resources, or things like that, require you to keep the finger pressed on the screen for 1-2 seconds. Other things such as the "play" button in the main menu or the cursor to move your character don't have such delay. - Save frequently. You do so in the inventory menu, by keeping the "save" button pressed 1-2 seconds. This way, if the game crashes, shows a black screen, etc., you can continue with the resources you had prior to the crash. - You can change your universe seed, and you'll begin playing in a new universe, but with all the resources you had saved. - If you exit a taxi in the middle of a mission in space, you'll lose that mission, and it won't reactivate even though you re-entered the taxi. - To make buildings, you need the construction kit. Equip it and press near your buddy. A white spot will appear. Click near that spot and another one will appear, along with a white line joining the two dots. It's similar to building structures in World of Goo. - The jetpack is fun, but you can't go to space with it I leave the rest up to you to explore and find, which I think is the most enjoyable part of this game. I hope these tips are of help.
How do you know what an item is? An item name and description would be nice but I have all this stuff in my inventory with no idea what to do with it. Also, is there any crafting? And where do you see your money? For that matter how do you earn it?
Ok, in the screenshot attached, the first row is the 4 kind of seeds I've found. On the second and third rows, the first object is logs of fire and my jetpack respectively. Then you have weapons and ammunition. The color of the icons of weapons and ammunition are related: red-icon weapons go with red-icon ammo, green with green and blue with blue. As you can see, I'm missing a blue-icon bow for those blue icon arrows. I still have to find that one. The fourth row, from left to right, has an umbrella (for when it rains?), the construction toolkit (check my previous post, constructing as in World of Goo), and the only resource I've been able to find. On top of "save" you see "43". Those are the credits I have. Check the video tutorial "processing resources". Basically is look carefully at the floor of planets. If there's a sparkling thing, bomb the floor enough and you'll find the resource. Collect it (keep finger pressed on it and move it to inventory bag on top right), and take it to a planet with the machine to process resources.
