Anybody played Tower Toppler? Link: [app]Power Toppler[/app] ($1,99) It's a remake of Nebulus which I don't know, but apparently it's familiar to a lot of people. Here's a game video of Nebulus. This video is not of Power Toppler on the iPhone but still it's very entertaining to watch. Here are images of Power Toppler: Anybody played Power Toppler? Apparently it has 16 levels, which doesn't sound like it's a lot.
Front page article here at TA: http://toucharcade.com/2009/04/20/remake-of-classic-tower-toppler-comes-to-the-iphone/
Ah yes, thanks for linking to that. I read that article after @snow_mani posted about it on Twitter and was surprised nobody created a topic about it yet. The article doesn't say a lot about game length, which is why I asked here.
16 levels total, and I'm stuck on 4. Each level is selectable from a menu after you beat it. You'll be replaying some towers quite a bit, dying due to timing on a jump, the clock running out, etc. And this is Power Toppler, based off Tower Toppler.
@ Veratek - well done on making it to level 4. I'm stuck at the start of level 2. And from what I remember of Nebulus the later levels can be very tricky indeed! I think I have hours of frustration... err I mean fun, ahead. I am missing the brighter backgrounds and colours that were a part of the original game though.
Thanks for the replies, I think I'll be getting the game. Others: feel free to keep posting about the game!
a must have though tough i think its a must have platformer cas the swipe controls are so good (though i do pretty much hate virtual D-pads) a classic on the old skool machines to become an ipod classic?
I have fond memories of playing Nebulus on my C64. And it was tough back then too. Which is what made it so much fun. You kept playing because you thought you could beat the level if you just tried one more time. The look of the game was brighter and very cutting edge for those days too. It's not a complicated platformer. The aim is simply to get from the bottom of the tower to the exit door at the top. All before time runs out. This involves pausing, jumping, shooting, riding rising platforms and even falling. If you touch an enemy you are bounced off the tower and fall. Sometimes you will land on a lower platform and sometimes you will fall to the bottom and be doomed to restart the level. Your character stays in the centre of the screen and the tower turns around you - which I always found to be very cool.
OMG that Nebulus Video in the OP was absolutely hilarious a must watch! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. I love the fact he kept dieing and got literally no where in the game but at the end gave it a 7/10 after he gave up lol classic.
I just picked this up, and I will post a short review later. I couldn't pass it up after the FP video!
I also picked it up and I'm already having trouble with level one. I can see how this game can take a long time to complete even with only 16 levels! Thanks for the reccomendation snow_mani
I want this game but I will wait for the price to go down. It looks like it has quite a bit of replayability.
Pretty steep? The only price for a commercial game below $1.99 is $0.99, so I wouldn't call this an expensive game. Don't get me wrong, I like hunting for $0.99 gems a lot, but $1.99 for a challenging game isn't expensive I think.
That was blatant sarcasm...if you look a few posts back, you will see that I already have the game. (and I used a wink...like this )
