So are you saying that you can still sideload DOS games via iTunes file sharing on iDOS 2?

yeah sure, i've tested it several times.

when you go to iDOS 2 on iTunes file sharing, the default open folder is Documents, so you can drag your games folders there... easy.

And no one has tried to load MAME for DOS through this? It's the first thing I would have tried... :p

if i know you well, guess you already own both iMAME4iOS and Gridlee, so MAME for DOS should be pointless, right?

Nice! So, does iDOS 2 give you a DOS prompt once you've added some games? I just launched it and it's only allowing me to play the two games it comes with? Or is there a trick or key combination to get to the DOS prompt? Thanks!

    oh yeah, i forgot that!

once you are in iDOS 2 click on the gear icon to open settings, then click Configurations >> default >> dospad.cfg, so scroll to the bottom, delete "play" under the line "[autoexec]" and click save.
Exit iDOS 2 killing the app, start it again and you gonna have the classic DOS prompt forever.

Filesharing is actually disabled for iDOS 2, the only way to make this work is to sign up for the "beta" by sending an email to the developer with your iTunes receipt as proof of purchase. Then he'll enable filesharing for you. But I'm not sure if it's still possible to sign up for this.

Yeah, I'm sure. I don't know in which version it changes. I know it was at one point enabled and then he had to disable it again and now it's definitely not working.

As of November 2016, people were still able to enter the beta. Have a look here:

wow, i didn't know all that!

att i presumed that 1.4 had something wrong because of that warning in the update notes, so i stayed on 1.3, it works fine on iTunes.

    The Shared documents is disabled.
I had to do that on my version too.
You can still get around it, if you either JB it, or use an explorer program, and dump the files in the documents folder.

    Hello!
I'm new user of Idos 2 and I don't know how to use it. How can I copy dos files to directory of IDos?
Is there any tutorial that helps me?
    Best regards
    Michael

Unless you’re on an old version of iOS (might be iOS 7?) Apple shut down the ability to copy games to Idos I believe. Big shame. You would have to be jail broken I think to use this properly now

Yeah that’s way too new. I think ios7 allowed you to use tools such as ifunbox to add your own files. Apple locked it all down in the next update so you can’t use that now. Only solution I think is to jailbreak if you want to use it

If I remember right, ifunbox still worked in early iOS 8.x. Something in the low-to-mid 8.x completely redid the way iOS structured files. Basically, whatever update broke a whole bunch of major stuff (Bioshock, Monster Hunter, Ghost Trick, etc) also broke ifunbox.

So, iDos 2 is now useless? I can throw it away?

Yes useless and throw it away. Thank you Apple for once again screwing us over with your super walled garden.

Not completely useless! It's a fine reminder that iOS is a lousy platform for playing old DOS games. Do it on a computer with a keyboard and mouse (and maybe a joystick) and you're going to have a much better time.
