Can anybody help please? I downloaded and copied the files for Elite 3: First Encounters on to my device. Whenever I try to play, the game freezes and a bunch of random text and symbols appear on the screen. Any suggestions?
For what it's worth both iDOS and iDOS 2 are still available in the Japanese iTunes store. I don't see power doss there, but I have no idea if it ever was.
I was going to ask why were these left up and not the console emulators. I guess maybe the consoles still want their rights Eh? Here's a question for you fellers, if you have iDOS2 or powerDOS installed, could you get software installed and ran? Like for example the um.....Commander Keen? Or shareware Bio Menace? So I can find this post later cause I get lost oh so easily I am going to write a word to search for: Rowden
Warning: "scorched.exe" contains (Windows) malware Power DOS comes with the file C:\GAMES\SCORCHED\SCORCHED.exe (586,088 Bytes). When checked by VirusTotal (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VirusTotal), several scanners report malware. The result of the behavioural analysis is pretty clear - the file contains malware. https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/2d5b8e0518ebf9fe6b3d349ac538a8822cf26def1e943ac6e1e846d95def1565/analysis/#behavioural-info I believe that the malware will not do much harm in Power DOS on an iPad, but who knows. However: you should not run that file on a "real" Windows PC.
I don't know about the two specific games you mentioned, but I've had a tremendous amount of success being able to load and play games. "Might and Magic: World of Xeen", "Darklands" and "Covert Action" to name a few.
iDOS 2 is pretty awesome. I loaded up Daggerfall via iTunes file sharing last night and it is working great.
even if i have PowerDOS that has the same DOSBox version, i would like to try iDOS 2 (i've already bought it long time ago), but i don't know how to delete the two games selection on prompt. How did you do to have the normal DOS prompt to run a side loaded game like in PowerDOS or in the old iDOS ? thanks in advance
Click on the Gear icon to open settings Click Configurations >> default >> dospad.cfg Scroll to the bottom and delete "play" under the line "[autoexec]" Click Save Exit iDOS2, force-close the app, start it again and welcome to C:\ Makes me glad I bought iDOS2 - this is actually the first time I've used it, been using PowerDOS. Hope they can manage a "bug fix" update like iDOS2 managed to squeak by!
Another thing to try -- edit the menu to run other programs. This should be enough info to get you going: http://ultimacodex.com/2014/11/dosbox-emulator-idos-2-is-back-on-the-ios-app-store-and-i-have-ultima-6-running-in-it/
Any differences between this and iDos 2 other than iDos 2 having file transferring? Like does Daggerfall run faster on iDos 2 than on PowerDOS?
both are the same DOSbox version, and until yesterday i preferred PowerDos due to the normal access to DOS prompt, but now with the new iDOS 2 update we can configure the DOSpad settings within the app (it wasn't possible in the previous version, as well as in the current PowerDOS) in order to have the normal prompt also here, like drelbs have told me a couple of post back. so i guess iDOS 2 is the better option now, not to mention that it can still be improved with future updates.
I haven't loaded up my stuff yet, but yes, I expect file sharing in the documents folder to work. That was fixed soon after 8.6 restricted where you could put things. Landscape mode on phones is not working, but the developer says this is only temporary. I'm going to load up Dark Forces later today. I used to have Terminal Velocity on there as well, but now there's a native app for it!
Just checked, it's not there anymore. I figured with the app update warning people to be sure to load anything they need before updating... Keep a copy of 1.3 so you can load it up, then update to 1.4!
Holy hell! Power DOS just got updated! I wonder if there's any way to actually load games on it anymore.
