I want it to be dual stick (tap the right stick to shoot a portal then again to shoot the other portal, and a button on the side for the other portal invade you want to remake the first portal again
I would hate accelerometer controls..but thats my opinion of course. As Hitch said, you should maybe make a different story, same chambers up to a point, but then add a lot more to it. Maybe you are a man character, or...different skins of the portals, multiple turret models? Just some ideas. Oh, that sounds good. But it show be fluid, and not so...choppy. It would work really well. Except a few Q's: What about picking items up? What about jumping?
he had a good idea! as for jumps and items, well then you add a little button between the two sticks, one for jumping, one for pickups!
Ooh, that would make sense. And hey, even the Dev likes it! Maybe you could be able to change the buttons around, like in NOVA?
maybe i guess, but it would be cool with different stick styles. like a tap to place portal or something, etc.
I prefer one stick & drag to look around ala NOVA over dual stick. For the single stick set up, tapping the upper half of the screen would crate one portal while tapping the lower half would create the other. Double tapps would interact with objects, and there would be a user-positionable button for jumping. Tapping and holding the stick would make the player crouch kinda like how crouching works in halo. That's the control scheme I would want...
do what the man says and chose wisely! Personally, I bet that he has no idea when the project will be finished because it is so new, I am not concerned with how it is going to be made, I am also positive it has to be in 3d, and the control scheme has most likely not been finalized, but those are all opinions/guesses. Ask away.
I know it's a bit late, but I'll throw my preference in for controls. It should be controlled with a joystick and drag, like Modern Combat: Sandstorm or NOVA. On the bottom right of the screen, where the fire button would be, place one button for the orange portal and another for the blue. Then, have a button on the bottom for jumping, and one right next to it for picking up/dropping objects. And as awesome as GLaDOS is, like Hitch said, having her in it would just present issues. Just make it a puzzle game based off the game, saying that it was inspired by Portal. Just do anything to get this game out there, I really want to play it. And will we be getting any gameplay videos anytime soon?
