...If you play enough indie games, that is. Steam's running an event that could get Portal 2 released early if you play games from the Potato Sack bundle, which include Super Meat Boy, Bit.Trip Beat, and Toki Tori. GlaDOS will then "use" the processing power of the computers to release Portal 2 early. So what the heck are you waiting for?! Get to playing!
As early as when enough games are played, is my guess. So we could have it all of three days early. Yippee. But still, kind of a cool promotional thing.
The problem is there is a list of games people wouldn't normally play unless it was on a mobile because they're throw away 5 min games worth 59p each. So hardly anyone is getting involved in this, by the looks of it only like 20-30k people are actually bothered. They should have put a popular big title there like COD or CS and watch it get unlocked within a day.
Why would it be in their interest to see it get launched as soon as possible? I think the idea is exactly to promote gameplay and sales of these indie games. In any case, it'll currently be launched around 8hours early. It was around 18hours early last night though. We'll see if more people or less people play the indie games today: http://cpucount.zapto.org
It's somewhere between "pretty good" and "my blood pressure is now so high thanks to this game i can neutralize protesters with my carotid artery" In laymen's terms, yes. It's platformy fun with an incredibly annoying streak.
Keyboard and controller both have their pros and cons, but either way the game is going to make you scream and hit stuff so it doesn't really matter which you choose ...and back to Portal. I'm actually looking forward to it now, despite getting incredibly bored of the first game and sick of hearing about it. I think enough time has passed for my interest to spike once more. This early release doesn't excite me though, I'm getting it on PS3
Well the game's out! Couldn't get my copy today though Any impressions? The reviews for it so far have been praising it non stop 90+ on metacritic, highest I've seen in a while.
Only have been playing for half an hour or so. Its pretty good. I think there is a lot more focus on the story (and comedy) and the facility being dilapidated makes things more interesting too. Its not all clean and pristine puzzle levels in the beginning.
For some reason Portal 2 is due out on Thursday in the EU... not sure why, usually it's Friday. Maybe to move it closer to the Steam release. Anyway, that means I get my copy tomorrow (one day early)! Kinda wish my second controller had a spring in the R2 button but whatever, I'm not the one that's gonna be struggling with it
Never been a huge fan of the original, but I have been following the ARG, turns out everyone who completed all the challenges got the entire valve complete pack, and a free copy of portal 2! Pretty awesome deal! VALVE = WIN
