I came across this app (http://appshopper.com/lifestyle/ponder) just now. I saw the price tag of $49.99 and had to see what it did. From the description, looks like not very much. So wtf is with the price? It's even stranger when you look at the App Activity. It went from free to .99 to 49.99. I mean, maybe the dev figured it wasn't doing very well, may as well raise the price to get some profits, but the mind boggles as to why they thought fifty bucks was a good idea.
Or it could be a slightly smarter version of IAmRich trying to garner some freebie 5 star review before it goes to its "regular" 50 bucks price... and everyone thinks its a legit good 50 bucks app. Only worth 99c IMHO. Cmon how easy it is to code something thats basically a slideshow. LAME App Speaking of which, anyone thinks, that statistics of the review, like at what price the reviewer bought it for, should be displayed? Case and point, the unsuspecting gullible buyer who stumbled on this app at 50 bucks would go on and see like 100 reviews of 4 or 5 stars made when this app was free or 99c would be tricked into buying, since he thought those people are truly happy buying this 50 bucks app.
But it only has a 2.5 star rating... Anyway, it seems to have gone down to 3.99 now. If it wasn't for the fact that it stayed at 49.99 for more than two weeks, I would think it had been a mistake.
Yeap price revised again today... glad to see people are still sensible when giving reviews, but there are a few 4 star reviews on this app, 1 mentioned he bought it for free which is good. But still, smells of very shady practice to me.
Maybe their being even more sneaky... and hoping people that watch price drops regularly, will see a price drop from 50 bucks to 4 dollars, and check it out.
maybe to entice those that are sniping the app? this would be like an 80% decrease, right? but it is sketchy.
