Yeah I thought he was joking... but I don't think he is. I feel... terrible for him. And for all that have bought into their BS.

The Tea Party is such a joke. How in the world are they advocating adherence to the Constitution when this woman doesn't even know what's provisioned in the First Amendment?

In our country's founding, the federal government was viewed to be pretty limited in what it could tell the State to do, but over the centuries that has changed quite a bit. Now the fed gov't is this huge thing that many people see as the governing entity in the USA. It wasn't originally supposed to be this way.

Her qualm with the "separation of church and state" not being in the First is really related to her initial point that the expansion of the power of the feds to infringe on choices that are traditionally held for the State was an incorrect expansion. That's why, I hope, she was making the point about why the separation of church and state isn't explicitly written in the First Amendment but (incorrectly) interpreted to be so...which goes against the original idea of Federalism which is a stance taken by the Tea Party.

But I don't think she understands the fundamental concepts of her party and just has a facial understanding of everything. That's why she generally comes off as a moron, and a reason why I don't like her as a candidate. :D

Wasn't it landmark Supreme Court decision that established speration of church and state? The constitution does not state that outright, yes, it may even be an incorrect interpretation, but it makes sense. We can't rely on our founding father for everything, sometimes we gotta think for ourselves.

But this isn't an excuse for her not knowing of this. When you think of the first amendment and the constitution, one of the things that come to mind is seperation of church and state. You don't need someone to state the exact case it was established in to remember seperation of church and state.

If the Tea Party wants to take the Constitution literally and forsake all the powers the government has added through the years, then you should take away things like Social Security and Medicare. Things that people really really want. People complained like hell about those two things too, only to now love it.

    Bump.

Looks like Obama could be in trouble. I don't know much about US politics, but I'll laugh my ass off if Sarah Palin ever gets elected for president.
