1. yes people dont choose to be gay its how their brain was developed. gays can have relationships JUST as meaningful as heterosexual couples. (i am bisexual and i sure as hell dont choose to be that way i am attracted to a man just as much as i am to a woman.) homophobia is destroying our country people say that homosexuality is evil. i believe that homophobia and the bible is evil 2. good too see you agree 3. yes if you are allowed to give up your life trying to save your country you should be allowed to drink alcohol if you choose too. 4. SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE! 5. SEPARATION BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE!
AND it prevents people from choosing someone bad for the presidency and the electoral college still is needed believe it or not
1. Gays and lesbians are people too. 2. I agree with you. 3. I agree with you. 4. Are you retarded? How can you NOT know why to stop that? The country was based on 'freedom of religion'. By making the anthem say' under god', it's forcing us to believe in a god. Many don't. I really don't care, but there are valid points to remove that. 5. Not everyone believes in god, nor the bible.
then how was obama elected? clinton wouldve been a MUCH better president than obama who is just screwing up our country. but i didnt want mcain to win eitheir i wanted clinton to recieve the democratic nomination
Popular vote wanted Al Gore. Electoral college wanted Bush. That turned out to be a great decision. /SARCASM
You honestly believe Americans are capable of making educated decisions? I've lived in this country my entire life and from what I've encountered the average person in this country is barely intelligent enough not to poop into their hands and eat it.
Ah yes, but those people aren't the ones voting. The voter turn out rate is really low, do you really think crackheads and dumbshits are going to be the ones who DO turn up?
No, the ones who listen to former sports anchors and entertainment show hosts because they share, amplify and solidify their jaded and uneducated opinions rather then using any critical thought and vote mostly on fringe issues are the ones who turn up. This is true for both sides.
With out the electoral college California and New York, for example, could dictate how the rest of the country is run. There would be no reason for the smaller states to participate. This would be a dangerous condition that could undermine the Union. The Founders were well aware of this when they devised the system.
KGame is a moron... But FYI, you're not required to say the pledge of allegiance, so I don't think it's necessary to remove the 'under.'
i still dont think they should even have it in their. the country as ive said was based on freedom of religion and separation of church and state. so why does god even have to be in the anthem or the pledge
I agree, but it's not necessary. Sure it would be kind of cool, but you're still pledging your allegiance to an inatimate object, which I will never do.
Oh yeah, forgot about that. I guess you could weight the votes of each state in a popular vote election, so it would accuratly represent the actually popular vote, rather than just california and NY.
Separation of church and state is a modern interpretation. Government was not to promote one religion above another. God can be construed, in that context, as a generic term for a higher power.
Certainly the process isn't perfect. Over representation by the North was cited as a reason the Southern states ceded from the Union. However, to date, we have not found another process to replace it. In other words, it's the best we have got.
If they did, the religious nuts would go crazy. I mean, check this out, and this was just because of a couple YouTube videos. First, there'd be claims that the entire government is composed of atheists, than there'd be complaints about how we can be a godless nation, and it'd just go on and on and on. Best not to piss of the majority of the population.
