Awww dude nah man I just wanted to be upfront and transparent with everyone haha There seems to be this underlying evil that everyone expects to JUMP OUT AND GET THEIR MONEY haha I fell fully responsible for this issue and I would love to address it best I can. You've been really supportive and by all means vocal during all this and we REALLY appreciate that. Your money is your own, and I love that you'd love to support us anyway you can. I would never expect that kind of capital from a consumer, and honestly you purchased the game so your support is absolutely felt my friend. But you do raise a great point... we did dabble with the idea of a kickstarter approach, but the amount of work and money that goes into creating 'swag' to hand out is really really heavy. Plus we couldn't actually give the game away once it's done because Apple only allows 50 codes per update, which is REALLY unfortunate. However this approach might have to be considered in the future as a viable way to generate capital without having a publisher lean on us to 'monetize' everything in the app hehe Thank you so much for saying that though. Been a rough month and even a single heartfelt compliment helps the spirit. Next time you have a drink in your hand, raise it high and know I'm virtually cheersing you
this game is great, had picked up at launch when it was a buck and it was well worth it. it's quite challenging [especially for a super casual gamer like me] but fortunately the checkpoint system is quite forgiving. On the downsides: I'm not too fond of the music in the game, it gets a bit repetitive, and the backgrounds are kind of dull, but these things don't really affect my enjoyment of the game. Maybe other people might be put off. Regarding the inApp ads, since there are for your own games have you considered adding one time pop ups? I mean if the person already has Kunundrum, then it's kind of pointless having the same thing displayed all the time on the loading screen. Unless you guys are planning on changing that to include more cross promotion with other apps...
The music was again an issue coming into this. We had a composer but couldn't afford him at the time and then ran out of time haha The music is looped. In an ios/droid game it's tough to get the music loaded up and a soundtrack into the game for a low budget title. To give you an idea, we had someone quote us 2000 bucks per minute of custom music. Think about that...that's a lot of effin dough for a full soundtrack. So we tried to mix it up so the loops would be different everytime you play. If you do get tired though, just put your music on and things'll be great! The cross promo there is actually 3 panels that are revolved from a website, so we have links to our webpage and our other game at the moment. We built it though so we could cross promote with some friends of our, GetSetGames, who put out Mega Jump and Mega Run. Though we are getting massive clicks from these titles, it seems they are all in China from people pirating the game...or so Flurry is showing heh But that's the nature of digital distribution I suppose. But yes we are looking to cross promote with other companies, so hopefully you'll see something new pop up there in the future Also, awesome to hear that casual gamers are at the very least finding entertainment from the challenge. The checkpoint system is integral to an overall feeling of accomplishment no matter how many times you die. And really, don't take the deaths as a negative, take them more as a goal to lower them as you play through it. When you get a level flawless, the fluidity is almost mesmerizing. It's a great feeling of accomplishment
@HTW Please just heed my one advice. Put a "No IAPs" disclaimer (spell it out in full!) in the game description. Either do this at the very top or under the game's features. This is something that will help many people in making a purchase (people like me who are vehemently against IAPs).
I was going mad constantly dying at a certain point, and then finally managing to pass it...quite satisfying. the level design is really good...Interesting obstacles + use of color shifting. Hope you guys do well with this game, would like to see what you guys could come up with a bigger budget [and also as a reward for putting out 2 quality titles]
Oh sweet you got Kunundrum as well? That's great We'll see if we can Filing Cabinet. With trust and more social discussions the support should grow over time! It's tough to recommend your own work ya know? hahaha people just don't want to hear it
I'm just recently learned about the letters, so going back to find all of them, some of them are tricky buggers to get! It really adds to the game for sure.
hahah yeah at the end of each level you complete it unlocks the collecting game which makes you replay the levels just every so slightly, and if you can believe, that much more challenging. The thing is though, don't pay attention to your deaths, leave that as it's own challenge. Do the letter collecting as it's own deal But yeah it's tricky...but totally makes you think differently. I love that aspect
Is all this talk of upcoming retina for iPad or iPhone? I've kinda got my share with Punch Quest right now but I can't resist pretty graphics on iPad, so I'll buy it if they're coming.
At the moment I'm up-resing the game. Unfortunately during production we went through 2 hardware cycles and with the 'man' power we have it wasn't in the cards on launch. I'll get there though But don't think that the game looks like utter garbage on the ipad3. It still looks like it should Also, graphics are great to have, but quite honestly the game blurs by as you run and it's all about the gameplay. If you're a fan of platformers with challenging twitch type puzzle elements, then this is your app.
Seriously folks, the game looks fine on the iPad 3. Besides which, this one is all about stellar gameplay and ingenious level design.
Bought it. You're right, this is about as close to retina as you can get without being full retina. Looks great, now to keep playing
Hey cheers Midian! I hope you aren't disappointed Goodluck, it's challenging when it gets going Don't forget to tell others or post a review or ANYTHING you can do to help spread said word hehe
You've talked me into it. I was wary because the only running games I enjoyed were Mirror's Edge, and a brief amount of Temple Run before it turned freemium.
